MapleStory 2.0: What else should be changed?
#61
Bring back the use of equipment sets, and continue to make more variations as well as higher leveled class equipments. The Zakum Helmet for example is so ugly it's a crime to wear it, I always thought it'd be cooler if Zakum dropped a gem that can be added as part of armour synthesis to give it tremendously better stats.

Running, just like the new Pokemon games. Speed limit should be removed as well.

Don't worry, they fixed that. With the 30 second cooldown on ultimates. Now you are just another mortal training on the ground. And actually watching the game instead of the TV.

Jellyflower Wrote:Make medals become titles which you can choose anytime once you've earned them, with attached bonuses so they don't clog up spaces.

Almost exactly what I had in mind. As of now there is no way to get back the medals you dropped.

More bosses, raids for various level ranged with level caps. Once chaos versions come out, regular zakum can be dropped down to level 50 with level 110 as the cap. And all bosses should drop chaos/white scrolls at a decent rate to make them worthwhile to farm on. Hunting monsters drastically lower levelled than you should give you experience penalty, up to -100% for say 40 levels apart or higher.

I'm going to have to disagree with this idea. I feel like putting a level cap on regular Zakum would limit the people that could go there. For example, let's say I have a level 120 F/P Mage or something, and let's also say that up until now I didn't have any interest in bossing at all (but suddenly now do), or that I wasn't wanted in expeditions, and with the recent balancing that I might be tolerated in a group. It wouldn't really make any sense that I would have to go straight fighting Chaos Zakum, especially if I didn't have the proper equipment. I first should be able to do normal Zakum and get the helm, and then progress on to Chaos Zakum.

Battle stances - full attack +10% damage -30% defense (or take 30% more damage), normal, defensive +10% defense -30% damage (would help in surviving in certain parts of the game)

Is 10% defense enough that it would make the 30% less damage worthwhile? I mean especially now that Nexon is balancing out the HP on all classes to make it possible to do Pink Bean. Just a thought.

Elemental weapons for all classes with lower attack base, or at least the available enchantments to add to weapons. More bosses with balanced elemental attributes, everything is like fire or holy weak in the entire game, need more variety.

The problem here is that certain classes are unique *because* they have elemental attacks (Paladins and Mages). If you let everyone have some sort of elemental enhancement, it would just homogenize the classes even further.

Give axes and blunt weapons distinct effects, axe can bleed with DoT damage or just chance to inflict more critical damage, blunt can stun (even though ACB does it auto) or bone shatter/armor crush effect that lowers monster's defense or to bypass armor (armor piercing to certain degree). Swords get nothing, their weapon speed makes up for it. I never understood the purpose having wands and staves for the same class. Should really allow mages to use staves only and clerics wands. Evans should use armlets or books in the first place and none of the two.

This is also an idea I like. The new passive effects I believe could be wonderful new aspects if implemented correctly, and if they weren't too overpowered.

Skillbooks starting third jobs, creating a bigger market.

As with Evan, I thought that requiring skillbooks at lower levels is a hassle and inhibits a lot of leveling time trying to find the books. I personally feel like skills should be earned through quests. Nexon got it right with Arans.

Invite to expedition button on buddy list, please. [Removed parts irrelevant to my comments] Extend expedition list to 10 parties, but still limit to 30 people.

Both of these are magnificent ideas. Having to manually type out a player's name to invite to an Expedition is just a pain. Bigger expedition sizes would also be convenient.

I added my comments in bold. I took out parts of your post that I didn't respond to in order to shorten the post.

I was thinking putting limit cap on bosses, sort of like LMPQ, pirate PQ, where people can farm for glasses/scrolls/capes to sell at that level range. Right now it's pretty much the higher level you are, the better you are in ALL situations. Well, at least unique bosses for cygnus class. Don't you think 4th jobbers at regular zakum is an overkill? If you just turned 4th job and reached the level cap on bosses, there should be other new bosses within your range (120~150) in game for you. Or another idea, scratch the entire thing but take out karma scissors.

The stances are just an idea, the defense I have in mind is post damage modifier, so it works like achilles. Maybe a feature only when a corsair is in the party.

Elemental attributes to weapons will only be half elemental (125%Wink, so it still gives paladins and mages an upperhand. I just like the idea of having different sets of gear for different situation. Right now everyone essentially use the same set for all purposes, save hp gear.

And as said earlier, new animation/sprites for adventurers. Everyone adventurer gets a cheap hula hoop ring with booster, while aran gets an entire polearm sparking on their head, it's just so unattractive. The UI seems modern but the skill animation, oh man. Skill icons for older skills are ugly too, compared to the new ones. It's like 256 colours compared to 16-bit in some cases.

Speaking of skills, I would rather have a diverse tree of skills for each class. With the new revamp, everyone's going to have the same build, skill wise. Don't like.

Maple needs a new tab on the chat window that lets you toggle in between default, notice/news, trade. Gach notices would be in notice tab, all smegas should let you choose from having it displaying in notice or trade tab. Or maybe item smegas will be in trade and all others in notices. There also needs to be a command that clears your chatbox. A save-to-text option will also be nice.

What about all the outlaws and whatever that gotta snipe snipe snipe them newts for 40 odd levels? Apparently watching tv or something helps pass the time with such insanely boring training...although I hope you don't have to train like that ever again with the mob changes.

Make mini dungeons for Chief Oblivion guardians, people may be applauding the removal of ultimates now, but I'm gonna lol when every I/L mage with buffed CL ends up 1 shotting EVERYTHING there. Only Paladins, I/L, and rediculously overpowered Thunder Breakers with the most absolute godly of funding imagineable will be able to hold their own without getting KS'ed, wahahahaha.

you know the hell with new high lvl content just make a Miror world like golden temple.
for example all the monsters in the miror world will be buffed and all the maps will look reversed, its not that hard to ctrl+c a world and buff the monsters...

Actually, I was thinking more about it today, and with quests, I think that, instead of having them reward a set amount of EXP, it'd be better for them to reward a percentage of your total EXP when you complete them, which would make them worthwhile. In addition, I think that one you pass a certain level the % of exp decreases so that level 180s aren't completing level 20 quests and getting 50% EXP every time.

Why not just vastly increase how quest exp scales at higher levels?

One word: Newties.
Or I suppose that'd have to be Newtie sniping, more specifically.

Good luck, newties are now level 150+. So if you got that far without looking at your TV, I guess you'll deserve it.

Hero's Will should be increased to level 10 with each increasing level decreasing the cooldown by 1 minute. A 1 minute cooldown at level 10 and would make Hero's Will useable.

x_X Honestly I think most warriors can circle skele or even TT while watching TV.

I definitely know I'll be able to CL every oblivion guardian when I'm the proper level and watch tv at the same time. Ultimates have no bearing on that. I also have experience with it.

I actually only missed my levelling on the character I was leeching, never the bishop I was genesis'ing on. Also, there's more mindless grinding when I was playing on my hero than the bishops that I touch for some reason.

- bigger maple messenger, 6 people would be nice.
- some kind of guild or alliance house that can be accessed from dimensional mirrow
- PvP
- Actually new high level area, along with those monster level changes
- NEW High level PQ
- CWKPQ access for Aran and Evan (gMS)

Satellite Wrote:- some kind of guild or alliance house that can be accessed from dimensional mirrow

Earlier I wouldn't have liked this idea as much, but I think that maple should have something like this now. If they did it, it would have to be an instanced area created once any one character from a list of guilds enters the area. For customization, they could have 6 different types; the first two as the basic starter and upgrade places, then 4 top tier types that vary by style. It'd be a nice meso sink too that could help marginally with the inflation since they made everything else cheaper (guilds, mounts, etc.).

In addition to sets, or as a side piece to it, they could have a color set boost as well. Say, you get a boost for using all class equips of a certain level: then you could get a further boost from using all the same color of that level range. And to take it one step further, it could include capes and other equips. To make that part work though, those non class equips would have to have multiple color variables to accommodate for the different classes and limitations of colors. And they don't all have to be mono-chrome. Of course with NX being a basis for profit, why would NEXON start making people try to look decent without buying anything.

Cancambo Wrote:They should buff Arans.
I agree.

Shadow Parner, attack/critical rise up to 500 combo and Ultimate with flaming pole arms raining from the sky, genesis dmg, but no cooldown Rolleyes

ZakumSlaYers Wrote:Removal of Vicious hammer.

+ Gachapon, Wheel of Fortune, Safety Charm, 2x exp, 2x drop, maplelife and other stuff that breaks the promise of Wizet(or nexon?) not giving unfair gameplay advantage for paying players.

Optionally they can make stuff like charms and extra slots sold by NPC.

Here's some more:

- max buddy list and guild slots extended to 1000.
- 20 guilds new max for alliance
- own box for game notices and smegas (jMS already has this)
- 2 person mount riding, it would be just AWESOME. Not just sure how to code it Confused
- nvm heck, make some big new battle mounts, like huge dragons or tanks that can attack to monsters, but need multiple people to control it xD Huge ass battleship killing mobs with 50 people inside, to make this possible also make party member limit to 100.

1 important thing: new damage number, preferably a lot smaller and made in such a way that they don't draw all the attention to them. I don't like it when half my screen is filled with numbers. What would be nice too is that numbers don't stack any higher than 4, or just have them all appear like Hurricane's(as if they're individual attacks). It works fine in other games, so there's no reason why it wouldn't work here. It could reduce the importance of high damage too.

And for Battle Mages and Buccaneers: all hits of an attack should just count as individual attacks for HP drain and Energy Charging. Each attack would target the monster targeted by the first hit, unless the attack deals multiple hits and hits multiple monsters (Brandish, Crusher, Brave Slash, etc.). If that's the case, another monster should be targeted if one of the targets cannot be hit anymore (death, invincibility frame). Damage done by damage reflect would be reduced (just damage/amount of hits the attack deals would be the new reflect range).

Honestly, to get me playing again, they'd need to change darn near everything.

It would be cool to see sockets for weapons with gems that add piercing effects to attacks and other unique bonuses.
