whats funny is when someone in my chemistry/homeroom class brought in the manga for this, i thought the title was Nep Egg. it wasnt until i saw an ad for the 4kids dub on Fox when i was made the wiser.

Sanji is simply going into survival mode until he gets the hell off that island. He was clearly the inferior kickboxer on that island and knew he was going to lose so he cut his losses and just accepted his defeat.

I like how they added the thing about Sanji, because I don't remember them even having panels with Sanji in it in regards to the manga. The manga was really interesting, until they started blabbing about the past, then I got bored again .-. Maybe it's just me.

You have clearly paid no attention at all to the opening pages for each chapter. Oda always does little side stories whenever he's not making one shot art. It shows right here Sanji being stuck on Okama island and being forced to be one of them. The anime is merely filling in the middle so they don't run out of material to animate seeing how close they are to catching up with the manga.

The manga was really interesting, until they started blabbing about the past, then I got bored again .-. Maybe it's just me.

Luffy went from hell and back, losing not only his entire crew from a previous battle, but also 10 years of his life fighting what was thought to be a fatal poison, just so he can rescue his brother. He broke into a previously impenetrable maximum security prison, and battled dangerous foes he alone could not have defeated or evaded. Then he becomes an official target to the World Government and the Marines by stopping an execution and severely damaging Marineford. He nearly kills himself by using Gear 2nd and 3rd so much in order to get through the resistance to get to his brother. He had help from countless allies, even Whitebeard himself. HOWEVER, despite all their support for Luffy in getting back Ace he only ends up seeing his brother killed in front of his very own eyes just as he was about to escape. Luffy is severely traumatized that all his effort was for nothing, and is virtually left with nothing (no crew, dead brother, his grandpa is still part of the Marines). If you can't afford a small arc explaining some background story about his now dead brother (that he sacrificed so much to try to rescue) without getting bored then yes, it's just you.

Yeah, I never pay attention to the opening pages since for most manga, it's just a pointless picture. I usually skip the first page anyways. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll have to look at it more closely the next time I read One Piece. And yeah, I still find this recent arc to be rather boring. .-.;

Because Oda had to at some point give some further background history about Ace otherwise we are left hanging and fans start coming up with inane theories about Ace's childhood. Luffy remembering Ace in his youth after realizing he died is no better time, because I'd rather not see a flashback about Ace a la Naruto style.

how exactly does this effect anything in the story? i know nothing of one piece (or any anime) but is he just going to be more flamboyant and throw roses instead of ninja stars now? or peach slap instead of punch? or is this a graphic anime where it's going to show him mackin' on dudes?

Well you can't exactly chase skirts on an island full of transvestites that are chasing him, eh? Something had to give, and one straight man maintaining his heterosexuality against an island of homosexuals isn't exactly going to be in Sanji's favor.

I'm saying once he's off the island he'll be back to his normal self. Right now he can't afford to NOT follow the status quo. He probably also felt completely defeated when he realized the stand-in for Ivan is a better fighter than he is. That'd be a heavy blow to any person's ego/confidence.

Did you see the anime? They were chasing him like they were in love, calling him cute and gorgeous. Sanji sends a boulder after them to stop them from chasing him and they somehow destroyed it, still pursuing him. He was stuck on "Okama Island". Okama is Japanese slang for "gay man". It's all right there. It can't get any more obvious they are all gay, especially for Sanji.
