I'm thinking of buying another stick of RAM but I forgot the bus of my old RAM stick from when I purchased it. Is there a way I can check this?

I've tried the Computer Management but I couldn't find anything. I also doubt the dxdiag log would help at all but here it is.

EDIT: The bus I'm talking about is something like 880 Hz or 1060 Hz, if it helps.

Here's a list of RAM that's been tested with your specific motherboard.

Looks like it supports DDR2 1066/800/667 MHz memory modules.

It is recommended to have the same brand/model of RAM for stability/performance purposes. So you might want to look into a 2 x 1GB kit.

I know for a fact that the RAM I'm using is a 1Gb Corsair stick. How do I tell which ones among these I can use together with it?

If you look inside your computer at the RAM, there should be stickers on them, it'll have the part number and such. Post them here and we'll see.

that cpu has a 1066mhz fsb so you should get the ddr2 8500.

http://www.crucial.com/ is a good site to check what kind of memory you need, etc.

Be careful with it. If you have rubber gloves, wear them. And don't work on carpet surfaces. I've killed many a RAM modules with static. You never see it coming.

And yeah, you really should buy a RAM card with the same bus as yours. Going higher or lower can cause problems. Mainly lower but just as a precaution.

It depends on what she's got in his machine already, and what he wants.

Plus, the support for DDR-1066 (aka PC 8500) requires overclocking, and might be unnecessary for him.

if it's prebuilt, they most likely used the 800mhz then. Rolleyes

she(?) COULD get 1066 since memory underclocks to match whatever the fsb is at usually but the ddr2 6400 would probably be best.

I also think the motherboard will usually underclock to the slowest stick of RAM.

It's either of these two since I read CM2X1024-6400 on the back of the RAM stick, and good gracious, I didn't remove it.

first one listed is single sided, the second is double sided. i don't know if you can mix and match them though or if it doesn't make a difference.

Just to verify, I would get CPU-Z: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php . Install it, run it, under the "Memory" tab, make sure it says 5 for CL, tRCD, tRP and 12 for tRAS
