By the way: If your friend is leeching a character that is not in the guild we could care less. So if the two of you think you're slipping under the radar by, say, leeching a new aran or w/e, that's none of our business.
Ohh, I guess I wasn't completely right to attack your guild even though we don't see eye-to-eye on the leeching issue. I just want to help my friend get close to 4th job since he's sorta stuck.
What we are doing is: I'M leeching HIM with my bishop for FREE for only a FEW levels. At his current level, archers reach their hell levels which is very demotivating. He reminded me of my I/L who actually trained (as you say) "legitimately" until 4th job came out when I was level 105 ish.

Like I said, that's your business, then, so long as he isn't leeching his crossbowman.
We have various reasons for not allowing leech in the guild, if you're curious shoot me a PM.
Edit: Well it looks like he is leeching his crossbowman after all, but, the leeching issue is very situational. Hiccasqueak, a bishop within our guild, offers help for those "hell levels" upon two conditions: One being that the person being helped needs to provide rep 2x exp, and the other, that they need to be actively killing. We are kinda fine with that so long as the person receiving the help isn't simply being a lazy bum.

Helping someone out =/= providing a service. I'm sure you trained with a bishop at one point. Technically I could even fake it by killing on his account on the edges of galloperas. I train my bishop and corsair by killing on both accounts. :f6:
EDIT: @ FluffyFoxxie: K, I'll just get him to tag along @ gallos. Sorry for lashing out again. I tend to be rash O.o.

I didn't realize there were hell levels for Snipers, on the other hand everything is easy compared to a Paladin.

Meh, "hell levels" is simply that last 5~10 lvl stretch before you hit 4th job. It's more anticipation than anything, it's actually not really harder than levels previous.

Yeah, that took a while on my Paladin (and then I quit completely at 123, because lol Paladin. Came back with Skele minidungeon). 10 days on my Night Lord, but it had the benefit of 2x events, which cut down 7-8 hour levels to 5-6 hours.

When leafre first came out, I got only like 10% per hour at peak with HS even as a well equipped 10x I/L mage. Don't get me started about Florina Beach on my first luk I/L mage.

110/115-120 isn't really hell for snipers when CGs opens up as a great solo spot (dunno about galloperas) and newties are still great. Archers actually have a pretty easy time the entire first three jobs.

I trained 7 Hours per level during my 5X on my Archer which was very fun. Those were the good days all right...

Less than before the formula change, but still more than solo.
Why leave?
Can anyone confirm this? I am a 149 corsair and have a regular 155 2hko bishop training buddy.
Should I go solo at skeles or tt? Or is it still faster exp to train with a bish despite them getting more exp than solo'ing or having 2 attackers?

As long as you have HS, you will always benefit from partying. At O4 and Skeles I get more exp from my own kills in a party than from my own kills when soloing. That is to say, even if my party members were leeching, I would still be levelling faster than if I was soloing.

I never really thought the wraith were an issue... that's what stance/guardian is for! and if you're being hit by wratih as a shadower. . . . .
HS giving you 50% more exp over solo doesn't make sense. Unless they removed the 110% exp gain cap, you shouldn't be able to gain over 10% more. Though the 10% boost is still extra exp.
Sorry for the late reply, I don't poke around southperry that often Dx
@FlufflyFoxxie
I kind of glanced over a lot of the replies, so I don't know if what I have to say is still valid, ignore it if it isn't.
What I meant by saying anyone who's ever trained with a bishop or mage has basically leeched before doesn't mean that all people who has trained with a bishop/mage is a lazy leeching bum, but rather that they gained more than they contributed in that party.
I really don't think leech is as serious an issue as everyone makes it. Serious players that tend to stick around and do end-game boss runs have trained up at least one character without lazily leeching. People that have never put in the work to even level one character to higher levels tend to not have the same appreciation for their character as those that worked for it, can't stand training in "fair" parties, can't stand soloing, and inevitably quit the game when they either can't afford to buy leech or can't find anyone to bum it from. Of course, there are always exceptions...

I do not have Stance. I am a Paladin. I hit one monster at a time, and a Wraith getting in my way messes with my location and might push me into Bigfoot.
It's not really 50%, I'll admit I overexaggerated on that part. On 4x EXP, I get roughly 9% from BF. On 4x with HS and 1 leecher, I get 11%ish. That's a lot of EXP for me, as well as the fact that the Priest buffed me with a 2x Family Buff, since I was out on mine. I didn't charge him either, since I'm after exp.
I consider his efforts to be worth the EXP he gets.

Yay! I wrote this lengthy reply and then my web browser hiccuped and the whole thing went kaput. Ah well, basically I understand how wraith can be troublesome and I've even traded BF leech for 2x buffs/HS before. But I still think they get a disproportionate amount of exp for just buffing me.
However, I also don't see the point in people arguing for or against leech, as unfair advantages are in all aspects of life; and leech isn't the worst one in Maple Story. What really confuses me is that people have been fighting for more balanced mechanics in the game, yet the first major step Nexon takes in making the game more fair and there's a sudden uproar of whiny people.
I'm still convinced that the only con in the exp formula change is what KaidaTan mentioned. In a party of 2 attackers and a HS mule where neither of the attackers is a mage class, they end up getting less exp overall than they would from the old system.

That sucks, but at least O4 can be split up by 3 people quite nicely.
