Preparing for a HT run.
#1
Hey bishops, I just want to see if i'm ready for Horntail or not as theres going to be a run at 11pm Friday and its going to be my first actual run. I'm posting this topic because my JP friend is asking me to study Horntail before going as being a Bishop in Horntail is 'difficult'.

I already know the following

during prelim heads, just heal a pomegranateton and buff when necessary..

During HT himself HUG THE Wall and continually spam heal/buff.

When tails and legs are down, go to the right hand (left from HT's perspective) and spam heal/buff while dispelling curses. If I were to be assigned as a seduce healer, heal heal heal the seduced until it expires.

After that, just spam heal and do buffs until right head is dead.

Once right head is dead, continue what was done on the right hand until other heads are dead

Once only the hand remains, just spam heal/buff and heal seduced until hand is finally down.

I know that the tail touch damage is insane and so are the legs, also make sure you do not attack the hands until both the tail and legs are dead.

Anything that I missed? I want to succeed this run and get a pendant x.x Whats your thoughts?

Thanks.

you only have to hug the wall if you're on tail.

legs, just heal accordingly

arms and heads, try to stay on the very end of the mid right platform iirc, so when you get it, you won't fall off the platform.

keep an eye on yourself, place minimap near so you can see if any of your party members wander off because they get seduced.

look out for dispel on the last head.

My first run last week was not a very pleasant experience. I'm not sure if it is normal or if the patch we recent got in GMS was affecting HT like it has the rest of the game, but I was incredibly laggy throughout the entire run. I thought my computer would have been fine, since it can handle Zakum very well, but this was completely different.

The first two heads were peaceful, albeit laggy (~1 FPS), and all I did was spam heal and buff, but when HT was actually summoned, between the lagginess and the utter chaos going on the screen, I easily lost my character every minute. Definitely have your mini-map on, as I was using that just to figure out where I was until it got to the last three heads, when the frame rate became a little bit more normal.

Also, be prepared to die, but try not to. I ended up dying two times on that run, but luckily, the runners I was with had a good system for resurrection, and we had enough res to go around.

If you're not as laggy as I was (I must have been around 7 FPS on average that run) and you're attentive, between that and HB, you should be fine. Just remember to follow what your team says at all time, and good luck.

The heads are pretty basic, you just heal and buff. It is possible to throw in some Angel Rays during Anti-Melee (lol).

The heads and the main will summon, Red Wyverns, Blue Wyverns, and Black Wyverns. Beware of the Black Wyverns. If they attack you successfully, you're dispelled.

In main body, during the Tail/Feet, turn off Mana Reflection. This will cause you to aggro other parts, which isn't wanted at the time. You can also make things hit the Right foot I believe, causing a stomping issue on the right, wiping out long range there (Unless they can take 10k hits w/ HB).

Now...

If you are healing the Right Side (Long Range party): You will be hugging the wall, and spamming heal. Every so often, a rock will fall down, hitting you for 2k damage, and knocking you away from the wall. There is a rope next to you, do not go past that rope, otherwise you will be taking touch damage by the tail. The tail touch damage is 25,000~, and it can stack with the Poison Myst that is laid down, dealing a passive 2,000. Being hit by the poison will not grant invisible frames.

If you are healing the Left Side (Melee / Tank(ish) Long Range): You will have more area to work with on the left side. You will have to watch out for people's health at times, but they should not be 100% dependent on your heals. Be aware that you will be taking stomp hits. Melee must grab aggro of the feet, so that the long range can survive and take out the tail. The stomps will hit for 9k~ and can inflict stun, be aware of your MP and HP at times. If you are using auto-hp/mp, it is always a good idea to have a manual key (of a different pot).

If you are healing Seduce: You will have to watch out for the Main Seduce. In GMS (Not sure about JMS), main seduce is picked apon the person who first enters. Everyone following after, will be the next in line. In example, if a Warrior is Main Seduce, and a Mage enters next, that Mage is 2nd in line of seduce. If the warrior dies, then the mage will now become main seduce until the warrior is resurrected. If the warrior uses a Wheel of Destiny, he/she will wipe his/her seduce ordering, and will be the last person to be seduced. There are 3 levels of seduce in Horntail: Left, Right, Jumping. Do NOT let the main seduce die, otherwise it may create problems.

If you are healing seduce (and are able to tail walk): I use the term Tail Walk here. During the fight, some Bishops may be able to walk over the tail, and survive the 25,000~ HP hit. This is amazingly good for seduce party.

In order to tail walk, you basically need a huge amount of HP for a mage (I'll edit, posting the number later), and max MP (30000). Therefor, you will need the following:

-Good amount of HP Equipment
-Power Elixirs
-Buffs on you at all time: Magic Guard, Hyperbody, Infinity.
-Some WDEF/MDEF might be good, but not priority (See formula threads)

Being able to tail walk allows you to chase the Main seduces when he/she is being throw to the right. It also allows you to be at the right side, and maintain buffs, and be more durable during the entire fight. You will become very flexible within the fight, but it is also very intense. After every tail hit, you must use Power Elixirs.

Also, even if you are not seduce bishop, it is always good to have HP equipment on for more durability within the fight.

---

In seduce party setup, it is best to have two Bishops at minimum. One on the left, and one on the right. This allows ease when it the main seduce gets sent to the right. Bishops who are not able to tail walk should follow him up til midpoint of the body, otherwise the tail will hit you.

Note: Part of the tail is behind the body.

---

After the feet/tail are dead, it is alot less intensive til mass seduce. Mass seduce will only happen when either hand gets below a certain amount of hit points. If the Right hand is dying, it will mass seduce 10 people. The Bishops must follow there party members being seduced. If the group kills the hand(s) before the heads, it will be more intense due to HT still being able to 1/1. Hands are never able to deal real damage, just MP Drain, and status afflictions.

The mass seduce will send 10 people into one direction. There are two levels of this type of seduce, left and right (no jumping!). It will be obvious when mass seduce happens, as a herd of people will go in one direction. Follow them. If none of your party isn't being mass seduced, you don't have to follow. Be aware, as a Seduce Bishop, Main seduce can separate from the crowd, as it is a different level of seduce. This will happen til the arm is dead.

Note 1: When left arm is dying, it will either mass seduce 10 people OR mass dispel
Note 2: When an arm dies, the main seduce's actual seduce amount is cut by 50%. When both are dead, there is no more seduce.
Note 3: Mass seduce is believed to be when the arms are at 10% HP.

---

For Wings as a Bishop, there isn't much to worry. The wings are able to do a super knockback, and that's pretty much it.

---

For the heads, Bishops only have to worry about Dark Wyverns and Mass Dispell.

Dark Wyverns will summon when the head is below a certain HP. The heads tell there HP by the type they summon. If the seduce party fails to mob the dark wyverns, watch out.

Mass Dispell will only happen when the middle head is below a certain amount of hit points. The animation is as a dragon was roaring. As the head gets closer to death, the more intense the mass dispel becomes.

(Uncertain, but Red Wyverns = 75%, Blue Wyverns = 50%, Dark Wyverns = 25%).

---

That should cover you, I might as well add a graphical guide.

For anyone else: correct me if I'm wrong.

game mx pretty much got it all covered.

lets add, when you see wiverns, genesis, whewn you see black wiverns gen and mg.

during the middle head after certain hp it will dispel, DO NOT stand under the rocks or you will die. be ready to mg during middle head. when left arm seduces and you are healing your group do not stand under the rocks. that arm can dispel and pwn you.

other than that i think game pretty much covered it all.

i do recomend that during the right arm you jump heal from the floor since it will make it easier to follow your party during mass seduce. jump healing also helps avoid leg stomps and stunt if you are leg bishop.

Excellent. I will keep this in mind..

Now to get a Manon's Cry, WHICH IS NOT EASY FOR A BISHOP..

I also know the attacks..

Tail: Slam Tail and Poison

Legs: Stomp Stun

Wings: Healing, buffing and Cornian summons..

Right Hand: Darkness/Weakness/Curse/Seal , 3k MP Drain, and Seduce. Some buffing too.

Left Hand: Dispel (at low hp), 3k MP Drain, and Seduce

Right Head: Wyvern Summons, Magic attack, 1/1, Watk/Matk Cancel

Left Head: Same as Right

Middle Head: Same as above, but with Dispel at lower HPs.

So basically, the recommended order of killing is

Tail, Legs, Wings, Heads, Right arm, left arm right?

For Manon's Cry, hugging Manon will do and you will not be dispelled.

Firstly, ensure that you enter the HornTail's cave after the Melee and Range class have.

Horntail isn't very difficult for non-Seduce bishops. However, you should be fine if you are wary of Dispel from Black Wyverns (summoned when you see an Orange Glyph appear from Mid Head), or when Mid Head opens his mouth and faint red lights appear. After the first dispel from the Mid Head, I believe it's a set amount of time before the next dispel (a few minutes).

I believe it's not very good to maintain Mana Reflection until the Tail is dead, of course you should have a high enough Mana Reflection at your level to make a difference.

If you are not in a 6/6 Party, please do try to dispel Defense Up (show your knowledge and experience!!!). Heroes usually don't notice it and so they do not Crash the buff. The arms do buff themselves, but without any notice so do try and dispel the Arms occasionally.

If you decided to tackle the Right Arm directly after the Wings, stay on the ground and prepare for Mass Seduction.

Remember to buff a lot, you never know when you might die or d/c, or have to replace another Bishop who has died or d/c.

I hate to say this but... true and experienced Bishops DO NOT spam heal. It really irks me when I see a Bishop spamming heal. The only time you could be spamming heal is if you are in a party attacking the Tail or following Seduce.

My main HornTail group's killing order is:

Tail -> Legs -> Wings -> Right Arm -> Right Head -> Left Head -> Mid Head -> Left Arm

This method proves to be very fast. The only risk is the early Mass Seduction.

Good luck and enjoy your first HornTail! It's a great experience Smile

FOR A FIRST-TIME VIPER GOING TO HORNTAIL!

Yeah~ TK and I are going together on Saturday and neither of us has ever gone. lmao

I can help Dennis with the preparation quests, so that's not a problem with the Manon thing. All I need is a guide to stay alive during HT and retain my usefulness.

Will I need HB when my HP is 8.3k base? Do I do anything besides spam Demolition / Dragon Strike + Rapid Fist?

I have the general idea of when to attack what and when to go in after the seduce mules, but during the actual full HornTail, I'm not sure where my placement is, other than Wind Booster / Time Leap mule. Rolleyes

I just got accepted into one of the HT squads in Bello and I was told to remove all macros. Also, someone had mentioned to me to make a Genesis and MG macro only for the wyverns. I'm really glad someone posted all this stuff.... I was confused myself on what to do being a first time runner.

It's been a while, but here's what I remember.

Definitely don't go far from the left wall until tail is down. I think depending on which party you're in, you may need to go from the wall a bit to buff and heal your attackers. After the run proceeds to the right wall, I recall you have to balance yourself on the first platform from the floor. Position yourself so that a hit will knock you onto the platform and not off onto the floor, because getting back up there can be a pain in the ass. Spam buffs and heal, and you're getting your thing done just fine.

Eventually everybody will be on the left, where you should go near the edge of the second platform from the top and go back there once you're hit. Face the HT boss while on the platform. You shouldn't be knocked off then. Spam heal and buffs, make sure everyone's getting them. Run leaders hate it when people are on the floor when loot spreads out, so stay on the platform and wait till they call you to get anything. Turn off autoloot on your pet at the start of the run, becuase if you loot an HT pendant or egg out of turn, that can mean major drama.

If you see black wyverns, at any time, stop what you're doing and spam magic guard until they're killed. They'll dispel your MG, and if you're not watching yourself that can get you killed right there. Luckily, in a place like HT, black wyverns stay around about as long as a fart in the wind, so this shouldn't be much of an issue for you. You won't let your party down by spamming MG during this period because the wyverns should all be killed in less than 10 seconds.

You might need to change parties in case a bunch of people are killed and they want to use a single resurrection on all of them. If this is the case, and you're the bishop rezzing, simply tell your party that your rez is operational and wait for further instructions.

The preliminary heads are pretty straightforward, so I'll skip over that.

Once you start the main Horntail body, you'll start off at the left side of the legs while ranged parties kill the tail. You'll need HB for this part only (so if your DK disconnects afterwards, you'll be fine still), but legs do around up to 10k damage if I recall correctly, not counting touch. After legs and tail are down, you'll just move along with everyone else. You're pretty much an attacker unless bishops need Time Leap, in which case you'll have to leave party and join a new one to use that on bishops. If you're on the bottom when monsters (wyverns, cornians) are summoned, you can probably take them out with a Dragon Strike. Oh, and towards the end when only arms are left, expect to be seduced. Besides that, it's pretty straightforward for you.

not really that simple as the previous post says.

up to the wings its all like that, legs attack em from the left side, wings from the right, right arm from the right, when heads come, go to the left head and ignore the right one. let ranged people kill it. reason being that with virtually no stance you will spend 90% of your time climbing ropes, adding the below par dmg buccs do on bosses, might as well just stand at the bottom of the map and jump around really.

when they kill the right head and come to help on the left side just keep punching it till it dies. for middle head go to the small rock next to it and punch it off. careful with falling on it and dieing.

remember to si your party and dont touch any body part besides wings and arms, with your hp you will die.

good luck and have fun.

Ok.

Maybe I should write a well detail guided then, after this.

---

As a Bucceneer / Viper, you will be a Hybrid: attacker/supporter.

The heads are pretty straight forward, and barely have any avoidability. If you see wyverns come at the group, be kind and Dragon Strike them out.

Please take a note, if you drastically need Hyper Body at Horntail as a Bucceneer, but arn't getting it, take shelter under the rocks at the left side. They hit for 2k each time, but it's better then playing with death. And yes, it is possible to AFK with autohp under the left side rocks, because every hit will pull you into them, making you stay there, and granting invincibility frames.

Also, as a Bucceneer/Viper, you will be high in the Seduce Ordering. Using a Wheel of Destiny will cause a wipe in your Seduce Order. Don't use it unless it is really critical (as in needing to Time Leap Bishops, no resurrections are available, and you're dead.)

For Feet / Tail: You will be attacking the feet, but DO NOT use any ability that would attack the foot on the right side. This may cause stomps for the long range. Dragon Strike CAN'T be used, I believe, as it doesn't reach that far. The Right foot at the time will be offscreen. The feet will stomp you, and can stun you. The Wings at the time will also be active, and my super knockback you, causing you to fly into the rocks at the left side.

If the feet dies first, DO NOT GO PAST HALF WAY. Again, part of the tail is hidden, so if you go past a certain point, you will get hit for 25,000 damage. The center point of the body is the line directly between Horntail's 8 pack abs. When the feet are dead, there is no more stomping. So you can go all out on the tail. It would be wise to use distant attacks. Keep attacking until the tail has died.

For Mobbing: If you are a Bucceneer/Viper within Seduce Party, or do not have enough accuracy to hit him well, then you will most likely be mobbing after Feet/Tail die. The mobs are pretty simple, but can be killer. They are Wyverns that have the abillity to fly around the map, they are not bound to the map's gravity by the physics engine.

Best tactic is to stay in the middle of the body, right under Horntail's 8 pack abs. This causes the wyverns to automatically aggro to you, and not fly around. When Dark Wyverns are being summoned, its good to Corkscrew Punch them away from the seduce party. Seduce Party will always be on the bottom floor, where they spawn.

For Wings: There isn't much here, wings can do super knockback, so just the casual all out DPS, til it dies.

For Arms: Shadowers and Bucceneer/Viper have a tad trouble here. The range of the Arms is not friendly towards 50% range. Instead, you have to time your attacks.

Every so often, the arm comes down doing an MP Drain (The red dragon staff symbol), it will extend to where Bucceneers and Shadowers can actually attack it. You must time it to attack right then and there. You can also transform to do Demolition. Dragon Strike will always reach it. Mass Seduce will happen at apparently 10% of it's HP remaining, so get ready to completely rely on your Bishop. If you have Hero's Will, it would be wise to use it ONLY when you're HP is fatal. If the Bishop is following you well, save it til it's actually an emergency.

For Right Head: There is a platform which allows you to punch him directly in the teeth, and another to punch him on the forehead. You will not have any range problems with this. Attack til it dies.

For Left Head: Same deal with the arm, this is not friendly towards 50% range classes (Bucceneers, Shadowers). But unlike the arm, this does not extend to where a 50% range class can attack it. The only thing you can do here is Dragon Strike, or Demolition. Or if allowed by the group, attack the Middle head.

For Middle Head: There is a platform that allows you to punch directly the left side of this head. You are able to use all skills on this unlike the Left head. This head will cast mass dispel after his HP reaches a certain amount. If you need HB, you will need to call out mass dispels.

other than that i think game pretty much covered it all.

i do recomend that during the right arm you jump heal from the floor since it will make it easier to follow your party during mass seduce. jump healing also helps avoid leg stomps and stunt if you are leg bishop.

Some groups will not allow Genesis, due to lag.

Edit: Sorry for double post.

for what i have seen, if you on legs just stab em till they die.

tail, do the one that is long range, the one ppl use with PAs i forget the skill name and stay away from the tail.

after tail is dead stand on the little rock between the mid and top platform on the right and you will hit the arm, wing and head from there. awesome spot for drks.

left go to the head, mid do the head.

always cast hb if its half way gonne, just in case you die or dc your party still has it. be very aware of dark wiverns for dispel and for the middle heads roar, it dispels too. attackers are fairly simple and as long as you attack stuff and dont die you good.

berzerking is a bit hard though and you might want close to or max hp to do that.
