Fire Strike first or Curtain first? x.x
#21
CGs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> skeles if you can curtain them. More exp and a smaller map with similar mobs and spawn rate will always be better than less exp with a bigger map with similar mobs.

Especially since no one trains at CGs and you won't have to deal with MD annoyances.

How in the world is a smaller map a good thing? It just means you need to take up more channels. What you want is spawn density.

CGs are pretty damn dense. o.O Smaller map = less time traversing said map killing burned mobs and laying curtains down.

Besides, CGs give way more exp for less effort. Plus no fire resistance.

I'm not denying that CGs will probably be a hotspot for Blaze Wizards, I'm just saying. Smaller map with less monsters = more CCing, less killing.

You don't realize the density of CG spawns and how quickly you can curtain a large mob. Plus a 6 mob of CGs is worth what, 8 skeles? 33% boost of exp per mob as a bonus.

Regarding accuracy, according to Nekonecat's calculator:

 Spoiler
So I'm assuming by this that you would train at DTs, Blue Kents, Green Monks, and Blue Monks (whenever possible) until 90 or so, when you'd go to Skeles. You could probably train at CGs starting around 95, but wouldn't really be able to beat them effectively until 100.

Personally, I think that CGs have perfectly dense mobs (I believe there's 10 per map with spawn maxed out), and the stairs could really help Curtaining. You could start from the bottom, Flame Pillar the ones on the left, tele to the stairs, Curtain, kill the top with Strike, then go to the other stairs and Pillar/Curtain there. I'm pretty sure you could Curtain all the monsters on the map like this, and if not, you could just Curtain the top, too.

I think fire strike first may be better than curtain first, especially if you have an elemental wand, for the same reason fire arrow first is better than poison brace first: because you don't have enough accuracy to hit the high-exp monsters efficiently (relatively-speaking). Fire strike is beastly with its 140 base and fire element, I could see it absolutely tearing through duals, blue kents, etc. in low 3rd job. For standard F/Ps, mist is generally used at squids, wolf spiders, and places that give similar exp, but fire strike is so powerful that it can destroy mobs of duals/blue kents/whatever in like 3 hits, which are some of the highest exp monsters you can consistently hit anyways, and killing in 3 hits is faster than cycling curtain. For standard F/Ps, only until around the mid-90s can you start misting relatively high exp monsters in upper leafre due to precious accuracy problems. If you go fire strike first, you'll have strike and amp maxed around 87, so you can get curtain to 28 around 96, a good level to start those high-exp monster you'll want to go for, accuracy-wise. Saving points for 100 isn't an issue because ifrit isn't really that essential a skill, just a couple points in for the timer, and it's good to go for curtain cleanup.

If we get curtain burn accuracy in the patch though (somewhat likely if nexon copypastes recent kMS skill data) fire strike wins for sure.

... What happened to Squids? I thought people got good exp misting there ._.

So wait, curtain doesn't have the same accuracy as mist? as in it just acts on the chance of poisoning the monster instead of acc?

Personally i went explode build on my f/p and that was pretty fun, but I'd like to try out a mist build this time around. Oh and some guy said misting is pot efficient, rofl, prepare to be disappointed.

Same thing will happen to mist whenever that change comes around. I think you'll only be able to poison with mist/curtain if you can hit the monster with three snails.

It's tough to curtain aqua because unlike mist, if casting a curtain would overlap another curtain, the old curtain gets cancelled out.

Well, to be fair, Skeles 1 is one of the maps with the lowest spawn density where misting is still efficient. Haven't watched any Shark misting videos have you? Also, the guy is playing it very safe. If it were me I'd just tele through and not waste time Sealing everything and avoiding all damage.

If Cyanne thinks Fire Strike first may be a better build, I may well give it a shot. I'm only using an Ele Wand 2, I'm fairly certain we're not getting burn accuracy yet, and to be honest I'd prefer to Curtain mobs, but Cygnus will be levelling really fast anyway so I might as well experiment. Hopefully I'll be at that point by the end of the 2nd week.

No need to be fair, that's one of the slowest and worst maps to train at even in tespia. >_>

Watch Cyanne's, it's about twice as fast (and not just because it's sped up f3).

Anyway, to elaborate on my earlier post, I think I'm actually going to go with a Fire Strike first build instead. I figure with about 100 magic more than a normal lukless mage when unequipped, some passable int gear, an ele wand 2, and a spell that on Fire-weak monsters is to Fire Demon basically the equivalent of using an Apple for melee classes, the worst-case scenario would just be discovering that Curtain training would be faster.

I don't think accuracy is going to be a problem, either.

Any thoughts on Seal instead of 20 Curtain? Or am I just stupid for thinking that? :/

69 + 30 = 99

What do you mean Seal? Why would you get Seal before Curtain?

Because 100-110 will be easy as hell anyways, and you won't have seal for newts at 110 otherwise. No other way to avoid damage thar.
And where's that extra 30 from? ._.

Blessing of the Sprite

I think Seal is more of a luxury than a training requirement at Newts. Or at least it was when I leeched a friend there, but I haven't had too much experience spamming ults. Also as a Bishop I didn't really care if I took hits or not. I don't think Newts is the best place to train, either ._.

Oh, right.
But big lag=death? I always lagged when I was in the same map as an ult spammer.
