And for people new to steam sales: Don't buy items unless they're flash sales, daily sales or it's the last day of the event.
Many people have felt the pain of buying an item that's 25% off and then during a daily sale it suddenly drops to 75% off or something like that.

Also hoping for a good sale on natural selection 2

Hoping for good sales on Civ 5 and Rogue Legacy.

Civ 5 gold edition with so much DLC for 50% off is so tempting. Going to fight my urges and wait to see if it goes any lower though.

EDIT: IT HAS BEGUN

what are dese cards.

Badge system gains are now replaced with the trading card system.

when you buy a specific game that is trading card applicable, you get card drops similar to how you get drops in TF2, just on the steam console(up to half of the cards of 1 set can be dropped before it stops dropping). When you get a full set of cards, you can craft them into a badge, which gives you account exp, and a emoticon for that game for steam chat(e.g tf2 themed emoticon if you got a tf2 set) as well as possibilities of getting % off coupons as well as upgrading accounts. after a certain point, your account will have a display case for your community homepage. as you get more sets, more options on the homepage are open for you for customization.

cards can be traded and sold, so if you want a specific set, collect cards and trade. trade off different cards from different sets if you need to.

specifically for this sale, a card drop is unlocked after each ~10$ usd purchase. so in total, steams expecting ~120$ if someone wanted to collect all cards without trading/buying the cards directly

I bought a few mystery cards for a few pennis to see what they'd do.
Now i reget not hoarding some to easily get a high level badge.
o well.

Also, i've never played a Civilization game, do i need to play any of the previous to play the newest or are they non-related as far as story or campaign or whatever goes?
It looks interesting.

Edit: Would appear the individual card prices are already nearing sub 1€
Edit 2: Also you get a card evertime you vote for the community choice if your steam level is above 5, and if you hit level 5 during the event you get all cards you would've gotten.

There isn't a story to Civ games, it's a simulation/turn-based strategy game where you pick a civilization to start with and develop them into whatever you want.

Currently I'm not really sure what I'm interested in picking up during this sale, the only thing I really want is for Dragonborn to get to 5 bucks or less, cause it's the only Skyrim DLC I haven't played yet. I'm just gonna check in every few hours/every day to see what the new sales are and to see if anything peaks my interest or not.

Trading card system is gonna implode my OCD, considering you can't get all cards without being forced to interact with others lol.

Well you can.
Community choice = 1 card every 8 hours i think it is?
And every 10$ spent = 1 card.

So it's not impossible to get it without interacting with others.

hurp, missed the every third time part.
Regardless, it's still not impossible to do without interacting with others, just a lot harder.

But yeah, this event will probably make valve a lot of money.
(Sales from the market ontop of people buying extra games for an extra card)

Portal and Portal 2 on sale for $12.50 as a bundle, 50% off individually. Buy now or wait for a possible greater reduction in price?

It's 50% off right now (so $10). Honestly, I'm not sure it's gonna drop any lower, since it's not exactly a major thing right now IMHO.

Also: Dishonored is already 40% off, FC3 is already 25% off. Could sure use a bigger discount on FC3, while I'd personally already get Dishonored. Hothead

I'd wait for 75% off, it's a valve product it should drop further(IMO). Not that it's a lot you'll save by waiting, but well, you can always wait for the last day of the event, if it hasn't been on sale by then you can safely buy it.
