I very recently bought a new laptop and am running into an issue with the keyboard.
In the game when I press and hold down either ctrl or shift or alt it only registers as one keystroke. So for example my jump is on alt, if I hold down alt I only jump once despite the key being held down. This is not a problem with sticky keys, I have also looked into a work-around with filter keys but it just wasn't fast enough and rendered the entire keyboard into a semi-useless state instead of just those 3 buttons.
This morning I set-up remote access to my new comp from my old comp. While controlling the new computer from the old computer I was able to hold down the ctrl/alt/shift keys and the keys would "spam" the skills which is my desired result. This is what leads me to believe it is a hardware issue instead of a software issue but I may be misinterpreting how the remote access is executed. This also coincides with another users report, he was having the same issue and said it was resolved by using an external keyboard. Unfortunately I did not have time to run the test in reverse, controlling the old comp from the new comp and seeing how it reacts, I will run that test tonight.
I am really not interested in a work-around. I don't want to have to change my in-game layout in order to accommodate a new laptop. Hooking up an external keyboard also defeats the purpose of having a laptop in my eyes, not only would I need to find a way to position the laptop to make it viewable but the mobility would also be severely diminished.
At this point I think it has something to do with the keyboard. The only thing that confuses me is when I did try the work-around with the filter keys it was able to register that the key was being held down and spam the key at a set interval that was just too slow for my liking. Is there some program that would allow me to see the exact input that the keyboard is giving so I can narrow this problem down a bit more.
On the one hand I've got other keyboards working properly while using the same system. On the other I've got this keyboard attempting to spam the keys when filter keys is on.
So I guess what I'm looking for is a bit of input on the situation. Is there some win7 "feature" that is keeping these particular keys from being spammed? If it is the keyboard is it possible to upgrade it at all? If it is some sort of software issue will I just run into it again if I return this laptop and grab a new one (diff brand, etc)? Obviously any other suggestions are appreciated as I've sort of run into a wall.
