Basic Psychology Questions
#1
Today in my AP Psychology class, my teacher asked us to simply answer the 15 questions on our desks to the best of our knowledge. Having taken Psychology courses before, I practically knew all the answers. My two friends in the class knew them as well because they've done similar practice or whatever regarding the subject. But it really scared me that there are 32 students in the class, and 27 of them got 12 or more incorrect... so I wanted to see whether or not the questions really are difficult for someone that isn't familiar with the basics of Psychology and what not. Answer if you would like too.

1. What Psychologist has done studies of the unconscious mind?
2. Which hemisphere of the brain deals with artistic values?
3. At what age is a person no longer considered an infant?
4. What "mind tricks" can one perform on themselves to help them recollect certain things?
5. How many types of Psychologists are there? (Primarily)
6. What is the difference between a Psychologist and Psychiatrist?
7. What does I.Q. stand for?
8. Eyewitness Testimonies are usually trustworthy. True or False.
9. What is an alternate name for an Ink Blot test?
10. Intelligence is hereditary. True or False.
11. What animal did Pavlov work with during his studies?
12. During what era was Psychology initially studied?
13. Which part of the brain deals with memory?
14. What better develops the way you think, hereditary traits or environment?
15. What does ESP stand for?

Spoiler your answers if you choose to answer. If you Google, you're lame.

Yeah that's the only one I got wrong, it's really vague and she even clarified on that. Eck.

It's pretty opinionated. But at least you'll get done with the book feeling like you've learned something.

I won't go about answering them but I'm sure I'd get more than 50% wrong out of pure lack of knowledge of the subject.

Insert distasteful psychology joke.

Someone should discuss neuroscience|cell biology as we've established our disappointment with psychology. Psychiatry is also fun. Electroconvulsive Therapy for patients with depression? It is interesting that drugs focus on biochemical relationships such as serotonin having a large tie-in to depression. But hey, shocking someone also has the same effect...

Answered all of them to the best of my ability in my head before looking at answer spoiler, got 4/12 correct (and was definitely close on a few others). I don't think there's any reason to be concerned, as the questions really are tough for anyone who isn't familiar with the basics of psychology (I've never taken a psych course before).

Edit: Looked at the answers after and got potentially 5 wrong, but some are debatable. I also misread some questions.

Took AP Psych last year and did well so I didn't bother with the questions.

We had something similar but different on our first day. They were true/false psychology facts but not history or specific names or info or anything, more like generalities about thinking (similar to 8 and 10), and they were all false.

I don't really understand the point of asking about specific knowledge at the beginning of the course.
