HP + Blast - Xephia - 2009-03-12 Two concerns involving HP and Energy blast. I type a lot, so I just decided to bold the important parts. First off, HP. The only class I've ever played and nearly mastered in MS is a DK. I've never played a single other class passed level 50. Thus, I'm used to very high HP. Though we all know Brawlers have low HP, at least compared to warriors. Their avoid is not comparable to that of a thief, unless you're a rare high DEX user. So, I'm very much not used to 2-3 hit kills. As a result, this far I've added a total of 10 points to HP, since adding to HP isn't as harmful as most other classes since we get more HP per AP. I was unsure how much HP to add. I wasn't planning on adding too much, but a fair amount, especially since it even helps with Honsters. I know STR doesn't effect too much on a Buc, at least with the little amount of AP I'll be missing out on. My damage isn't going to suck unless my equips suck (which they actually do, at least until 90ish), but there's always time to fix up my equips. No one's going to deny me a party saying "Hey, you're STR is 2 levels lower than your levels implies. We're not going to party you, weakling. A level 200 having the same power as a level 198 is pathetic." With that said, I was basically wondering how non-HP washed Bucs generally survive at places such as Himes or Skelegons without massive pot burn due to their low HP. How do you do it? Also, how much HP do you recommend I add to? If you're one of those people who's a bit iffy on adding AP to HP, pretend I'm HP washing. Lastly, there's Blast. I've gotton used to using just about every other skill a Buc has at 3rd job except for Blast (Well, and shockwave, but it's simple enough and I don't see myself training with it anytime soon.) I will admit, I have leeched a few levels from a friend. I will also admit that the amount of levels leeched was very low, and began after level 5X. I'm currently level 7X. I started playing about 2-3 weeks ago, so I'm leveling at a fairly normal pace. The leeches are more like a small "bump". Either way, I'm loving the class, as it feels kind of like I'm playing a fighting game, and it one of that classes that actually involve skill. However, I've gotton used to many combos, except any with Blast. My blast is currently level 11, and I believe my charge is level 11 too. I've been training at Hoodoo and MP3, though just recently decided to go to Lower Ascent. Would Blast have been useful at Hoodoo or MP3? Will it blossom in Lower Ascent? Honestly, I just couldn't get used to using it. Especially when I'm in charge mode, I often spam my Level 1 drain since it's so crazy fast, overpowered, and saves pots in both areas. Blast is... something I never found the time to use. When will the skill blossom? Will it blossom at a certain level or place? I've seen it very useful at gobies, though that's still quite a few levels away. Also, one more thing to consider, I'm weak. No Zakum Helm (though should get one by 90), Level 50 claw, clean glove, +15 DEX overall, +2 Earring DEX, and yeah. I'm level 78, so my damage is much lower compared to you overly rich funded HT Pendant Stormcaster Facestomper users. HP + Blast - Dusk - 2009-03-12 I don't think adding HP will really make much of a difference, since it takes quite a lot of AP just to make the difference between 2 hit and 3 hit. Just get yourself into the habit of potting every time you get hit. I mean, as someone who has exclusively ranged classes for the past two and a half years, I don't think twice about using an Ice Cream and a Supreme Pizza every time I take damage. Potting is just a reaction to taking damage. HP + Blast - Russt - 2009-03-12 @ Blast It's simplest (and quite effective) just to substitute it in when you'd otherwise use Somersault Kick. For a Kick-spamming situation, alternate the two. Start with that and you'll eventually get used to it, it'll become second nature. It would have come in handy at MP3, and probably will at Ascent. With collected mobs in general, Blast-Kick excels. As a DPS fanatic I'm tempted to say that it 'blossoms' at 21, because it hits 4 monsters instead of 3, dealing 133% as much damage over time on a large mob. But in real situations that seems to barely makes a difference. It definitely gets better as you level it, though, so be patient. HP + Blast - Worthyness - 2009-03-12 Not to sound like an asshat or anything, but please don't complain about low HP until you;ve played a ranged class. My 9x marauder has 200-300 more HP than my 13x bowmaster (and that's with 50 ap put into HP...), which kind of sucks really. Right now, the hp is around the same as my bowmaster, but soon it will eclipse it. This was my main reason for starting the marauder: It had a lot of HP and i could make a few mistakes here and there, not the case with my bowmaster. /rant Anyway. Blast is great, especially at typhons. Kick is weaker than blast (my kicks do 2.3k-3k average, while blast does around 6-8k average). And when used together, a whole lot of awesomeness comes out ![]() In the case of blossuming, Lower Ascent is also fine, I didn't train there at that level, i trained at hoodoo/voodoo for money and exp. and without risk of dying like a crazy person (stupid totem pole). Thus, by my experience with the Cave of Pain, I believe blast shoul;d come in handy there. I went a weird route on my build, and maxed stun mastery. Backspin + blast = WIN. But i advise you to follow another build, since you may not stun as much as i do. HP + Blast - Manu - 2009-03-12 I'm a 96 Marauder and I have a friend who is 102 i think, We both love blast... he didn't like it and didn't believe me but luckily I convinced him out of the SW buiild, now he has 7 points from early start for shockwave and then turned energy build. Also, don't see blast as 1 thing, if you have blast max and energy charge still at 11, it won't be nice, personally I think you need blast 21 and charge 20+ for it to be cool :p HP + Blast - IllegallySane - 2009-03-12 Xephia Wrote:Two concerns involving HP and Energy blast. 1. I'm not at the level, nor will I experience being 2 shotted since I will be HP washing before I hit 120, but I would have to say people will just suck it up and pot after every hit. For you, I would say add enough HP so you'd have over 7k, which is when you won't get 2 shotted and be 3 shotted instead. You can lessen the pain by using Screw Punch and Barrage (in the future) so you'd have more breathing room to pot in time. Besides, Warriors don't have THAT much more HP than a Brawler. The normal unwashed warrior will probably be 3 shotted by monsters like Skelegons until a level like 150. 2. It blossoms at level 21, where it hits 4 enemies. It's really not that hard to use. You alternate between Somersault Kick and Energy Blast, kind of like having a rhythm. Instead of just spamming SSK (1), you use Energy Blast (2) in between, like this: 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2 HP + Blast - Xephia - 2009-03-13 Thanks alot for the responces. I'm actually using blast now, and it's working great. One problem I was facing earlier was I put it at a bad place on my keyboard, though now that's changed. I often altername between Blast and SSK or Blast and Corkscrew, depending on the situation. As for my HP, I've added a total of 20 points so far, and won't be adding too much more until I feel I need it. As for the above poster, keep in mind I was a Dark Knight, used to having 24/7 HB. I know you're a Dark Knight, but didn't you have to get used to keeping Berserk up? I'm sure that forced you to be at an HP limit where you risk getting killed in 3-4 hits, or even getting killed in 2 hits in exchange for a damage increase. Lol, I never used Berserk for any longer than 10 seconds. Stopped at 134 on my Yellonde DK, and 4th job wasn't out for my other. My Pirate seems to be doing fine in terms of HP though, luckily since many of hit attacks can leave him invincible. |
