A Canadian Piggybank - Anything - 2009-02-07

My piggy bank filled up today so I decided to count up the pretty coins. This was my first time filling up a piggy bank so I was pretty excited! Big Grin

For all the non-Canadians:
Toonie: The coin with a silver border and is golden inside, worth C$2.00
Loonie: The gold coin, worth C$1.00
Quarter: The large silver coin, worth C$0.25
Dime: The small silver coin, worth C$0.10
Nickel: The average sized silver coin, worth C$0.05
Penny: The useless red coin, worth C$0.01

Amazing how much a piggybank can save up. lol (Then again, you've got a lot of quarters and toonies there) You could probably buy a decent laptop with that amount of money.

I usually try to spend my coins .. I hate how they make my wallet bulge up to the point where closing it is a pain in my butt. >.>;

Wow congratulations on filling it up!!! I generally try to get rid of my change or my wallet would erupt.

The first thing that pops into my head after seeing all those quarters and loonies is...I wouldn't have to worry about change for laundry again. xD

My dad has a jar like this:

that he puts his change in. Last I looked, it's about 3/4 full. Can't imagine how much it holds @_@

I toss mine in either the armrest in my car or the lockbox (with a broken lock) on my nightstand. Not much in it, though it's mostly quarters.

@Beloved and nannerz: Find a empty container lying around your house and put all your change in it. It'll help with your wallet situation and you'll also have $1000+ in around two years. Win-win situation! Big Grin

I put my change into a glass jar sitting on my nightstand and I also have a coin jar in the armrest of my car. The other day I took in just the change from my car that only had built up after 2 weeks and I had $65.00. I can't even imagine how much is in the jar inside my house.:f6:

The most I've ever saved up through loose change (mostly pennies and low value coins) is £50 over a few years, although for a good 2 years it was untouched since I didn't live in the same place as where I stored my coins. I stored them in a really old handbag, lmao. Now I keep them in a small piggybank which I regularly empty into a small storage container split into 1p/2p coins and then silver coins. It's going to be my Christmas gift money for family/friends. Shine

I remember I had this really small piggy bank, but I promised myself I would only put quarters in it. So after about 6 months it was full there was $623.75.

I was pretty shocked actually, plus I was only 10 so I had not a clue what to spend it on. I think I bought legos with it.

I usually keep my coins in the ashtray in my car. But it never really piles up, since I use them to pay exact change (or close to it).

I let my change build up in a tub I keep under the back seat of my truck. Usually every 3 or 4 months I'll roll it up and cash it in. Its usually around 75 bucks or so.

Its a good way to save up a little spending money IMO. Usually I'll take it and buy a game or a few movies or even a little extra NX.

I kept all my change in a small plastic thing within my nightstand drawer. I counted up the Quarters and dimes like, 2 months ago and had $40. Used it to buy an Xbox game.
