Have you tried HyperCam yet? (You might want to get a trial version or obtain a free copy with other questionable methods until you make sure it works, because this isn't from personal experience- I just hear about Hypercam a lot.)

I see a lot of Hypercam videos on youtube, but I prefer Fraps.
And Magus, Sony Vegas is a great video editor, because without it the quality from moving a giant game vid onto a tiny you-tube screen is terrible

give SnagIt a go. It does everything from recording - real time encoding while recording to taking SSs at set intervals.
