UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Lubzter - 2011-08-28 Before this thread gets shut down by a mod, I just wanna say I'm not asking for people to decide for me on what UA I'm gonna make. The purpose of this thread is for me to get more so that I can make my decision when the time comes. With that said I wanna get people's input on the following issues: 1. Is the lack of inventory space a really huge issue for UA sairs or is it still workable just somewhat annoying? (I don't plan on buying inventory slots for this char, at least not unless I get it well into 4th job) 2. Are sharks for UA buccs really worth it? I feel like it's a lot less useful than for a sair. 3. In general how many skills do sairs and buccs use full time in say 3rd and 4th job? I've never gotten either one of those classes very far and even in the lower levels I sometimes felt overwhelmed by the amount of skills I had. (I would prefer a class that has 3 maybe 4 attack skills to work with for the majority of the time) Thanks for all and any feedback, like I said I haven't had much experience with either job which is why I'm posting this. More questions to come if I think of any. UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Olsi - 2011-08-28 Havent gotten a brawler past 50 but for sairs in 3rd job its pretty much just flame and ice shot to attack with dice to buff up, and that pretty much all i do at 96, and from what it seems like in 4th job your attacks are cannon and torpedo. I dont really have a problem with how many slots i have as a gunslinger and you could always get rid of the first bullets you can buy and stick with the 50+, but then again im not a UA gunslinger. Also sharks would probably be better for gunslingers as in all 2nd job you can only hit 3 monsters and the start of 3rd you can hit 2 then goes to 6 by about 75-76. UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Worthyness - 2011-08-28 Sharks make brawler/marauder easier than ever before. Like so easy it'll blow over in an instant. Once it's in 4th job you're good tyto use sharks for a few more levels until you get dragon strike. Seriously. It took me MONTHS for my marauder to get to Buccaneer. And that was from leeching myself. By doing a UA marauder + BB exp, you can basically do that in 2-3 days no sweat. As for buccaneers keyboard stuff- I use literally 3/4 of the skills that i have learned already. EVERY attack is keyed on my keyboard. the entirety of my left side of the keyboard is all attacks. EVERY attack is keyed on my keyboard. the entirety of my left side of the keyboard is all attacks. See that was one thing that put me off of my brawler early on. I feel like there are so many skills and perhaps the best way is to use all of them interchangeably to get the most out of your attacks. But for example on my sniper (now MM) I usually spam blizzard (or AE before it got nerfed) and strafe any monsters outside the mob. I rarely used puppet but in the earlier levels I also used power knockback. My point is that I'm used to having 1 or 2 mobbing skills and 1 or 2 one on one skills to get myself out of a tight spot. So in that regard are buccs of sairs more up my alley? UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Worthyness - 2011-08-28 Honestly, pirates use a ridiculous amount of their attacks. I'm pretty sure Corsairs would have an equal amount of skills on their key areas as a buccaneer would, but I wouldn't know because I've never played on past 2nd job. The reason my buccaneer uses the entire left side of the keyboard is because the buccaneer has 3 modes: normal- energy- and transform. My normal keys are from zxcvba my energy keys are sdf my transform keys wer UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Lubzter - 2011-08-28 Worthyness Wrote:Honestly, pirates use a ridiculous amount of their attacks.Yea I wish someone could give me info about sairs, if they are the same with key set-ups then that's one thing that won't really go into my decision making. Also I should probably read up on Bucc's b/c this whole "normal-energy-transform" stuff is knew to me. I mean I know about the transformation were you go like supersaiyan but I didn't know there wre 3 keys associated with it... man I am so nub. Can you recommend a good bucc guide? Thanks for all the info so far! UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Chicocl - 2011-08-28 I have a UA Sair (121..) and i just need bullets for 1vs1 because sharkwave is very useful in 3rd-4rd job, from 70 to 120 you use the next skills: 1: Flame/ice combo macro (very useful but range is low compared to sharkwave) 2: Booster/dice macro 3: Recoil shot/ wings macro for mobility and recoil shot solo in the keyboard. 4: Rapid fire, sharkwave, ice splitter (to freeze mobs when they are near), octopus and horming beacon. nothing more as far as i remember (i haven't played in 1 month). And about the uselfuness of sharks, it is great for 50-80, but Fire/ice combo is better if you train in places with good spawn and if you have good timing with recoil shot About the bullets, it doesn't affect you in the lower levels but in 110+ the amount of pots you need increase a lot in LHC but i think that in Jump with monster park will be a lot better. The worse thing is the HP diference it is horrible i almost die in 2 hits but probably i feel that way because i only had warriors and a bishop until i made this sair. in 120+ everything is torpedo/canon lhc is very very boring. UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - fodjgngf - 2011-09-06 I trained a UA sair to 122. Sharkwave is .. the main skill you're going to use till 120. PVP as an outlaw is incredibly good exp. You're going to suck at LHC till you hit corsair. I found flame thrower and ice splitter incredibly useless, incredibly useless. As for key settings.. I only really used the same ones i always do, Default Quick slots for buffs and pots. Ctrl main attacking skill(sharkwave till 120 then BS: Cannon) shift for secondary/mob skill(burstfire later turned BS: torpedo). Spacebar for recoil shot, Grave(`) for gaviota, octopus was on the quickslot. UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Bomberman - 2011-09-06 fodjgngf Wrote:I trained a UA sair to 122. UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Yukiko - 2011-09-06 Chicocl Wrote:in 120+ everything is torpedo/canon lhc is very very boring. This pretty much summarizes lvl 120+ as a sair if you train. Corsairs lose all of the mobility they had as a gunslinger thanks to the boat. Sharks can't be used on the boat, along with dice, homing beacon, as well as the ability to climb ropes. They're very good at staying stationary and dishing damage, but lack stance... The above reasons are pretty much why I quit playing my corsair. That said, it was a very enjoyable class from 1-120 and the boat looks awesome (main reason I made the character). I would suggest a UA Bucc instead (though I have never made a Bucc), simply because sharks will be used past 120. Being on a ship completely restricts it. UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - Muppy - 2011-09-07 I'd say wait for Pirate revamp and then make your choice. Seriously. I mean, I've made both a Bucc and a Sair, and I can say that they're equally annoying when it comes to training through 3rd job. However, I did find Marauderhood way more bearable than Outlawhood. All in all, both can benefit greatly from Sharkwave during 3rd job and neither will really use it during 4th (maybe Buccs will use it more, because, well, they don't need to unboard a boat to use it). UA Sair vs UA Bucc. - fodjgngf - 2011-09-08 I completely avoided MP3 and did captains/kru at 88, it was faster by far. As for PVP gaviota is a near 1 hit kill, sharkwave is incredibly ranged, recoil shot you have to get used to it's new method of being a ground based attack which means get used to jump shooting with recoil shot. When you get used to these fundamentals PVP will go in your favour. Just know your enemies cooldowns and your cooldowns. A lot of people are talking about pirate revamp but no one seems to know when we can expect it, nor exactly what it will bring. I'd love any info you can share because I haven't been able to find any. And now that I think about it the Boat skill is both a drawback and an advantage, but ultimately I don't think it's something I want. Having an MM is a lot of standing and holding 1 or 2 buttons down, and it seems like ultimately it's the same for Sairs. I'm interested in the versatility Buccs seem to have as far as attacks, I just wish I knew were it will be fun or overwhelming in the long run, since I'm not really used to those sorts of classes. Finally if anyone can recommend any builds (thought I've already checked out the ones here on SP). Thanks for all the feedback guys, now to grind the last 10 lvls to 120 on my KoC. I'd love any info you can share because I haven't been able to find any. No one knows about that revamp (pirate and thief) yet. We can only hope that it will happen, seeing as how all of the other classes got some changes in skills etc. Anyway, seeing as you already have a MM, having a Sair shouldn't be too different IMO (however, take this with a grain of salt as I've never really played an archer class in Maple). Go for Bucc then, so you can also shift from a ranged char to a melee one. This is just a personal opinion, but I have this feeling that they'll have an awesome update when Nexon decides to make the pirate revamp real. Build? You have Sharkwave, that's about the main skill you'll ever use until 4th job. Just get the passives earlier and put a few points on the mobbing skills so you can mob and then spam Sharkwave if you want to. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I'd love any info you can share because I haven't been able to find any. There WILL be a revamp, the question is really " When is the revamp?" Nexon can't go about revamping 3 of the adventurer branch and adding awesome passives to the heroes and NOT do anything with the classes that need the revamp the most (mainly looking at Buccaneers and Nightlords. Shads have it pretty good and corsairs could use a few adjustments here and there as well, but they're mostly set already). Even then, I give it Summer of 2012 before that hops into GMS, so I hope that if you know you'll be playing maple in 1 year, you should be good on deciding now. Otherwise, look into other Possible UA characters. Here's my keyboard layout for my buccaneer. Note that I have a funny place that I put [jump] and [loot] so all my attacks are based around the far left of the keyboard. the insert button has a macro for SI and booster. And the other macros are for the glitched haste and HB.
Spoiler
And finally, builds wise, Muppy has it right: sharkwave will get you instantly to level 120 no problems at all. It outranges pretty much any attack you will ever get in your arsenal (minus Dragon strike, but even then it's questionable) and does decent damage and a faster speed than Dragon strike. You essentially max every single one of your skills anyway (except maybe dash in 1st job, but i have max haste so it doesn't make a difference). You will use sharks till at least 125 when you have a decent level of dragon strike. even then, it may be better to have sharkwave until you max out dragon strike. Otherwise, go visit the pirate section for takebacker's buccaneer guide. Playing MS in another year is questionable (because honestly I'm a lil surprised that I'm still playing it now) but I know the only 2 possible UAs I would want would be pirate class. Now back to the layout. I'm assuming you are not a UA bucc (since you didn't mention that you are) with that said wouldn't my layout consist primarily of Sharkwave and Dragon Strike like you said, not talking about buffs. I see you have a lot of skills in your set up and my guess is you alternate attacks a lot to cover more ground (front and back attacks and so on). That's one of my main concerns if I go the Bucc route. I just can't see myself being able to juggle more than maybe 4 different attacks (not counting buffs again). Thoughts? |
