Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - IllegallySane - 2011-08-07 For some reason I can't hop around a Youtube video anymore on Firefox. The loading bar (gray bar) never shows up, and if I try to jump around a video it has to buffer, even if the video has been sitting on my browser for hours. I tried Youtube on Google Chrome and Youtube works fine. Even weirder, I tried a couple videos on The Escapist and there was no loading bar problem. I even went to Vimeo, and there were no loading problems there either. For some reason it seems to be just Youtube. Any ideas how to fix this? No, I will not accept a silly answer like "switch to Google Chrome". Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - Kalovale - 2011-08-07

I can't replicate your problem, you might want to try reinstalling/updating Firefox? We're up to 5.0 now. Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - IllegallySane - 2011-08-07 Oh wow we're that far already? Alright, I'll see if the update fixes it. My main gripe is I heard the newer update kills/deletes your add-ons. I'll just note of all the add-ons I have downloaded all this time before I install 5.0. *Add-ons weren't gone, but I'm stilling having the loading bar problem. I know it's not an internet problem since I have cable as my internet connection. Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - Kalovale - 2011-08-07 Maybe it's.. uh, Flash issues? Try updating that too. I don't know. Sorry I can't help. Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - Alex123123 - 2011-08-07 Update plugins (specially flash) -> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck Then try again. If that doesn't work, restart. If that doesn't work, wait for the pros. edit: You could also try disabling the addons, see if any of them is screwing stuff up. Specially those youtube -vid/music ripping- addons and other stuff related to youtube. I believe addons carry on to newer versions of FF when updating, so maybe that's why updating FF did not get rid of the problem? -random guess- Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - IllegallySane - 2011-08-07 Just updated Flash to version 10. Still nada. What the hell, Firefox? Here be all the plug-ins for my browser. All the important ones are up-to-date, so are the minor ones probably causing the issue?
Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - Jon - 2011-08-07 Have you tried opening Firefox in safemode or disabling all your plugins or something? Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - IllegallySane - 2011-08-07 I'm not sure how opening FF in safe can rectify the problem, and I pretty much carry only the essential plug-ins, so disabling them is a rather bad/moot idea. I did disable a couple useless ones that snuck into my browser like the downloadUpdater ones, but that didn't do much since they were plugins given to me from AOL. Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - IllegallySane - 2011-08-09 Small update: Running in safe mode oddly fixed the buffering problem, but now the loading bar still doesn't show up. Essentially, it's not buffering if I jump back to a previously loaded section. So I can hop around sections of fully loaded videos without a problem now, but now I don't know how MUCH of the video is fully loaded. Fixed one problem, and another still remains. Gonna see if another Safe Mode will somehow fix the whole thing. *And nope it doesn't. Now I have an invisible loading bar. =/ *Also edited title to reflect new problem. Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - steveg89 - 2011-08-10 I'm 99% sure it's just compatibility between their stupid new hiding progress bar, but I haven't had the issue in any of my computers that run old browsers. Firefox 3.x doesn't show, nor firefox 4. Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - Katforks - 2011-08-11 I haven't had any problems with seeing the bar on FF5 and Chrome, but the popup layout does get stuck sometimes after I move my mouse off the video. Only problem I've been having. Invisible Youtube loading bar for Firefox 5.0.1 (9/14, it fixed itself?) - IllegallySane - 2011-09-14 I'm merely posting because I'm updating the status on the Youtube problem. For some reason, without ever touching the problem again, it solved itself. Not sure if Youtube finally updated a compatible version that works with Firefox, or some unknown force went into my computer and said, "FIX YOURSELF RIGHT NOW OR I BREAK YOUR HARD DRIVE, FOO!". Any other Firefox users here suddenly have Youtube working properly these past couple of days? It just feels both odd and amusing that the problem corrected itself. When I make it smaller to fully see my YouTube channel background I have this problem when I try to view all videos in 420p+ but if I go back down 1 size to what it was before everything was fine again. Edit: After seeing this I went back and changed my size, tried out a few videos and it seems to be fixed..I just recently updated to 3.6.22 since I don't like the layouts and shi't in the new one. So kind of happy about that now, hope it stays fixed! xD |
