Thread Question: If you found out you were going to make the same amount of income with a high school diploma as you would with an advanced degree, would you still bother to pursue an advanced degree keeping in mind the years and tuition required?
Addendum: Would be interesting to include your current level of education and the final degree of education that you would be satisfied with achieving at the moment.

No, which is why I feel burdened to have to go to college. ._. I would love to just go into the job market where I stand right now, but I can't due to this college shit.

I'd drop out of college right away, and go to Culinary School although some colleges do offer that kind of program

Here is another question, do most of you guys & gals who responded "no," consider your academic studies as you would a career or a means to getting a career? Or something else entirely (don't want to drag you into a false dichotomy here).
Added depth: Gauging from your previous response, do you actually treat your academics as you would treat a career?

"Student" is a vague term. do-nothings call themselves "students of living," so would you question the validity to their claim if they actually put forth an effort into being involved in a social scene and making acquaintances?

If it would be a practical thing to do (i.e. if tuition was paid and my family fed), I'd enroll in university for the rest of my life.
Edit: Well, not really. I'd seek to learn for the rest of my life; but at some point it would no longer be sufficient to be taught what other people already know.
But the point is, I don't care for the income. I want to learn for its own sake. But no one's going to pay for me to do that.

I don't work as hard with school as I (feel like I) would if it was a paying job.

Fixed to pertain exclusively to academic studies. I'm procrastinating though from my mid-term in 7 hours. Will contribute more at a later time, but the cake could possibly be a lie.

Yes. they are both an endeavor to reach an ends OR a means, so yes, putting in the required amount of effort +x is always the best way to go about it.

I see a career just as a way to earn money to live life normally. So, I suppose going to school is quite similar to a career in my eyes. I envy those who make decent pay and love their job.
I don't really aim too high; don't need to have a six figure salary to live happily. I'd love to be a chef but I just can't see myself earning enough money and I'd probably lose face too. (How many times did I use the word I? D: )

This. Studies are important. They always will be. Studies are something you dedicate yourself to for a sake of a career or another specific purpose. If you're not taking it seriously, then you're not really performing your studies, are you?
