Video card Driver problem - Kalovale - 2010-06-16

I was running Maple as usual when it froze from out of nowhere and gave me an error notice after a long wait:

Quote:The nv4_disp Display Driver has stopped functioning normally. Restart windows to return to normal screen settings and and send an error report to Microsoft.

Naturally, I updated my driver to this version, booted Maple and played normally for good hour or two until it suddenly happened again.

I found this solution after a quick search and will try it. But if there's any precautions or deep-rooted solution to this issue, I'd appreciate any help.
tempSolution Wrote:Finally resolved this 2 weeks ago - go to control panel > display properties > settings > advanced button > troubleshoot tab and uncheck the 'Enable write combining' box at the bottom

Since then I have completed 3 large maps and currently playing a huge map, plus all videos now play smoothly

This is my DxDiag log.

You've de-dusted your video card? If you've never done so, then it's obviously going to be dusty so it could be overheating. If you put "8600gt temperature" into Google, a lot of the top results are reports of very high temperatures.

To enable temp. monitoring in the Windows version of the NVIDIA Control Panel, you need this: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.06.html
