Milk -- Which do you prefer? - KaidaTan - 2010-05-11 I like 2%. It's the perfect amount of low-ish fat before we start getting into the milk-flavored-water territory (1/2% and lower). Also, doesn't whole milk get bad in like... a few days? I've never tried soy or almond milk, to be honest. EDIT: Is now a poll. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - ImagineAll - 2010-05-11 I'm with you. 2% just tastes better to me. Soy is gross. Whole milk is too thick to me. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Khoi - 2010-05-11 I can drink whole, 2%, skim, etc. Though I'm sure all of SP realizes that Soy Milk and Almond Milk is not really milk, it should be within the category as well. Almond Milk: Has a nutty scent and taste to it, it's like drinking almond and water.. Which sounds pretty disgusting. I bought one, and though it was ALRIGHT, I doubt I'll buy another. It wasn't that great to me. Soy Milk: Ah, love this. I can drink it sweetened, unsweetened, or the chocolate/cocoa flavored Soy Milk, which is my favorite!!!! Cow Milk: I'm neutral with it. I only drink to get stronger bones. Goat Milk: . . . . . . . . . Overall, I enjoy my chocolate Soy Milk. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - KaidaTan - 2010-05-11 Wikipedia Wrote:A 2008 study found that men who consume an average of half a portion of soy products per day are more likely to have a lower concentration of sperm.[10] The study found a decreasing trend in sperm concentration correlated with the amount of isoflavones consumed as part of a soy rich diet. The study acknowledges further broader replication is required as it focused predominantly on overweight Caucasian men.[11] It also concludes by mentioning two other studies, one of which found no correlation between soy intake and sperm levels in men, and one that found a positive correlation between soy intake and sperm levels in men. I remember hearing this before I looked it up in wiki. Apparently hormones that aren't good for men are present in soy. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - FrozNlite - 2010-05-11 Love 2% for the reasons you gave, Kaida. Plus it's actually healthy to have some fat in your milk. However, my family has bought Skim my entire life, and thus I'm used to that and enjoy it as well. I also adore soy milk, though some brands are definitely better than others (I prefer Silk). What's Almond Milk? Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Throes - 2010-05-11 I prefer 2% milk, but as long as the milk is from a cow, I'll drink it. No soy or almond fake milk, thanks. My little brother is on this health kick so he only buys soy or almond milk. It just doesn't work with cereal. edit: Also, rice milk. Ugh. So watery and sad. I'm slightly lactose intolerant, but I'd rather deal with being gassy all day than drinking sad, sad milk substitutes. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Khoi - 2010-05-11 To ![]() You should include Rice Dream in the list too, it's not dairy, but some people might consider it to be dairy. I've drank that too. Rice Dream isn't bad.
Milk -- Which do you prefer? - KaidaTan - 2010-05-11 Omni Wrote:ToYou know, I saw that in the list of milks but I didn't think anyone would pick it. Look, no one's picked almond yet. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Khoi - 2010-05-11 That's mostly because it doesn't taste all that great. Hell, I've tried it and I'll tell you that. <_<; Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Dusk - 2010-05-11 I'm not a big fan of milk. I think I have minor lactose issues. When I do drink it, I like 2% milk. Goes well with cereal and desserts. Oh, and soy milk is fucking gross. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Daku - 2010-05-11 I've been drinking 2% since i can remember having to choose what %. 1% tastes bad. Never tried anything besides those two. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Locked - 2010-05-11 I like any kind of milk except Almond, Soy, Skim, 1%, 1/2%, and milk substitutes. That's 2% and Whole. I just noticed. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Corn - 2010-05-11 Hurray for being one of the two people who voted 1% milk. Never tried 2% milk. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - ★★★★★ - 2010-05-11 Ive had Skim 1% 2% Soy Almond Rice Coconut And i firmly stick with 2% being the best. (1% is good too) But whenever i switch %'s the milk tastes spoiled the first few times i drink it. ALSO! FYI! EVERYBODY is lactose intolerant! Human bodies do NOT like lactose but.... some people build up more of an immunity to it and some people dont. I have a great immune system and i can drink milk all day every day. Unless you count your infant years. ![]() Kaida, add the vote for 'HUMAN' Milk there too .
Milk -- Which do you prefer? - JoeTang - 2010-05-11 Chocolate...? Milk -- Which do you prefer? - KaidaTan - 2010-05-11 JoeTang Wrote:Chocolate...?Chocolate can be added to any of the milks I listed above. Have you ever put chocolate in skim milk? It tastes like... chocolate. Skim milk doesn't taste like anything -- it's just a filler. "I am lactose intolerant. I have no patience for lactose, and I won't stand for it." Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Wigum - 2010-05-11 I've never tried them but I have to say the people that market soy milk such as silk and almond milk do a fantastic job making it look/seem delicious. Some day I shall have to give them a shot. I typically use 1-2% milk, however it's predominantly used for cooking, coffee or cereal. I haven't had a straight up glass of milk in probably 3-4 years or so. Milk -- Which do you prefer? - FrozNlite - 2010-05-11 @Almond Milk: Interesting. I'm always willing to try new things, and considering almonds are my favorite kind of nut ( at the gutterminds reading this right now), I'm curious to see if I'd like the taste. Though considering everyone here who has tried it doesn't like it, I don't think there's much hope.
Milk -- Which do you prefer? - Beloved - 2010-05-11 Never heard of almond milk. Only ever heard of almond powders that can be mixed with water into a beverage - this, i love. Of course, I love milk, but I wouldn't go as far as to consume it on a daily basis. Soy milk > milk. Why milk isn't a healthy choice:
Spoiler
src: http://www.ultrawellness.com/blog/why-you-should-avoid-milk Do I believe this? Duh, yes. But mostly for how it makes sense to me. My mother often explains how different my sister and I are, health-wise. Compared to my sister, I'm actually a healthy baby. Back around the time she was pregnant with me, she didn't consume milk, and stuck to chinese herbal remedies to maintain her health. I was often sick as a child, down with fever, cold/flu, but I never had any allergies till later on in my mid teenage years when milk was consumed daily. Now I have allergy caused migraines. With my sister, she would boil milk and add eggs into the milk to drink as a beverage every morning. This, was supposedly healthy for her, the doc said so and her friends did. But when my sister turned 4, she started to have allergy symptoms all over the place. Blue and red food coloring, chicken, pineapple, dust mites, flower pollen, various nuts, bananas .. and so much more would make her face swollen up, eyes red, and itch all over the body. It was a nightmare dealing with her when she came home from school in that condition. So once again, I love milk, but not its possible long term health side-effects. |
