My AP Chem teacher told me earlier that on the back of the Pepsi truck, the company placed a message detailing their environmental efforts. However, it contained a massive flaw in its message - a chemical one, actually.
A Pepsi truck came to my school today for a delivery run during lunch hour; I spotted the truck and made a beeline for it almost instantly.
What I saw made me laugh pretty hard:

So Pepsi, uh, you're implying that you have been poisoning the environment as long you have existed as a company?

Vehicles (in most cases) produce carbon dioxide as a product of combustion. Carbon monoxide is produced only in certain situations, such as burning fuel in a oxygen-lacking environment. But hell, when its produced and it accumulates in high concentrations, then there's a big problem.

I do, actually.
But my main purpose was meant to show how Pepsi got their chemistry wrong, as they're implying that they were emitting into the environment poisons instead of pollutants. While they may sound the same, how its worded makes all the difference.

It probably produces 50% less carbon monoxide as well as carbon dioxide. I think you're making a big deal out of nothing.

I agree with everyone that *technically* Pepsi's chemistry is correct, provided they're referring to updated catalytic converters reducing CO exhaust emissions. However, "hybrid" vehicles are typically designed to increase gas mileage, which subsequently reduces CO[subscript]2[/subscript] emissions due to less fuel required for the same distance as a non-hybrid. If this is the context within which the message was designed, THEN their chemistry is incorrect.
In the end, it's all relative, and I have a feeling Pepsi wouldn't screw up that badly with the production of their trucks. They're not Nexon, after all.

Internal combustion engines produce carbon monoxide. Pepsi's trucks likely use internal combustion engines. They also likely improved their efficiency, either with the engine itself or the fuel it uses. I don't see the problem.

You could use that argument against any company that "goes green".
"What, you're advertising that your newspaper plant now uses 50% fewer trees? Man, all this time up until now you've just hated the environment! What a terrible company."
In this case, the important part is where the company is going and not from whence it came.

I think the company is trying to imply that
Carbon monoxide is less dangerous than carbon dioxide.
With one atom absent.
