I find it interesting how scared our society is of sex. I don't see how people seeing her boobs could 'ruin' her life. But then again, I've never been in a situation like that, so I wouldn't know.

From the sound of it, it wasn't just people seeing her boobs. They were being posted all over the place with malicious intent to people she definitely wouldn't want to see (e.g. boss). However, I don't get how this could even happen. Even if you can see the picture on the server by typing in an arbitrary 5-digit code, no personal info should've been linkable to it. In any case, the girl must've provided it at some point or other, so either she ought to have known better or Quip failed with their privacy policy. In summary, somebody screwed up bad.

iPhone's have special tags that mark all sorts of data (I think it's called exif) and it literally enables someone to pinpoint the owner of the phone the image was taken on. It's really, really poor security. There's a porn site that has a thread specializing specifically in that, which is absolutely disgusting and unforgivable. I think if any girl were ever raped/attacked/harassed, the people who post that stuff online should be held responsible as well.

On a more serious note, I feel bad for the girl, and its unfortunate this happened, but its a risk people should know when posting things on the internet. Unfortunately, privacy and the internet dont really match.

While I definitely would not label her as a "whore," I do agree with Stephen on this one. Sending pictures of your topless self to anyone via a possibly sketchy application is just absurd. Then, to say "I spent money to have my life ruined" just shows how ashamed she really is. Do I feel sorry for her? You bet I do, and if I could do anything to help her from here, I probably would. If you really wanted to send him those kinds of pictures, email would have been a much wiser choice, not a stupid app on your fucking iPhone. o_O

When they're thousands of miles a part, people do things to fill the sexual gap; to show their love and appreciation for one another. It's no different than phone sex. It's their private business, it doesn't make her a whore or a dumbass or whatever else you want to call her. And yes, it absolutely can be avoided.
