The next southperry game - Minecraft. - Nightclaw - 2010-04-26 First it was Maple, Then DO, then ITCG. then Pokemon. Well now I bring what is going to be the next southperry game. http://www.Minecraft.net ![]() Over the weekend and a few evenings this week, I’ve sunk an embarrassing amount of time into building virtual structures with pixelated cubes in a game called Minecraft. This Java app is ongoing project by Markus Persson. It’s currently in alpha stage, but even now is incredibly fun. The premise is simple: select from nine types of cubes and build whatever you want in a virtual space, one cube at a time. The multiplayer servers are a blast. The avatars are blocky and prance like little kids. The players explore the world building crazy towers, under water forts, skywalks, gardens, etc. Some are loners, others team up like ants to shape the landscape to their will. In short order, a sparse map is teaming with structures. The limited amount of materials keeps the world unified and looking a little like a Super Mario level. Creative mode is where its at. Just check out an average server. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The next southperry game - Minecraft. - Corn - 2010-04-26 (1) Is the link well-placed? Does it make sense within the context of the conversation? No. It's a new thread. Correct section, though. (2) Does it use words which are commonly used in advertisements (hottest, best, coolest, chic, updates, etc.)? No. (3) Is the purpose of the link only to make people more interested in a product, service, or other website? Yes. (4) Would a reasonable person view the link in question as being an advertisement? Cookie says it is. Judging by this, I say it's an advertisement :f6:. I'm playing this game though. It's really fun. The next southperry game - Minecraft. - Nightclaw - 2010-04-26 (1) Is the link well-placed? Does it make sense within the context of the conversation? yes, the conversation is about the game (2) Does it use words which are commonly used in advertisements (hottest, best, coolest, chic, updates, etc.)? No. (3) Is the purpose of the link only to make people more interested in a product, service, or other website? Yes, but it is to benifit them. So many other threads are the same as this. Like the BF:BC2 thread (4) Would a reasonable person view the link in question as being an advertisement? Debatable The next southperry game - Minecraft. - Solarboy - 2010-04-26 Oh Joy I cant play because I get a random error

The next southperry game - Minecraft. - Yotsuba - 2010-04-26 I have to disagree with you not using common advertising wording. While you're not using obvious terminology like HOTTEST and COOLEST, you're definitely getting the same point across with "The next Southperry game"; which has the same effect as saying "The next big hit!" The title of the thread is made to lure people in, with a typical advertising ploy. People didn't come into this thread to have a Mincraft discussion, they came out of curiosity as to what the hell the "next Southperry game" was. The first part of your post also heavily relates this to an advert. How many times have you heard similar lines on TV? In a deep and masculine announcer voice "First...there was Baseball. Then, there were baseball video games. NOW, WITNESS HISTORY IN THE MAKING! VIRTUAL REALITY BASEBALL!" Bottom line is, while you may not have intended for this to be an advert, it comes off sounding like one. I vote this thread's title be changed to "Minecraft". As of right now, it's too focused on THE NEXT SP CRAZE than it is on the game itself. You did make this thread to discuss Minecraft, right? Because I can't see that from your post, seems more like you're just trying to get people to vote this game gets a board of its own. That's the primary intent I read behind the purpose of this thread. Sounds so much like advertising. And it looks crappy. And I call it sucks judging by the posts so far. :| The next southperry game - Minecraft. - Nightclaw - 2010-04-26 solarboy Wrote:Oh Joy I cant play because I get a random error http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=f39dc7687c0bdcec7bda54dc010a776f and to the haters.
