Level 105 i/l mage here.
If I were to buy a elemental wand 3 and lose ~30 matt, would it be worth it still. Like, would my overall damage still increase?Rolleyes
Or should i just save up for a Elemental Staff 3? -haven't seen any in Bera for couple of weeks-

Save for a staff; weapon worthy of being endgame>>weapon you'd use for a few levels.

Also, yeah, the wand would be better than a regular stave/wand.

Well, obviously your damage doesn't increase by 25% every 6 levelups.

Staff for luk/low luk, wand for lukless. As for the damage, even if it has 0 magic atk, it will out damage regular wands/staffs by far.

This, at least for higher levels. The higher your level, the more beneficial the elemental weapons.

I see. I didn't realize that elemental weapons became even stronger the higher level you where. x.x

Erm, you misread. What I meant is that the effect of boosting your elemental damage by 25% becomes more meaningful as you have more magic attack. Basically, the more you have, the more 25% of it means.

Just calculate:

(Your matk now-30) *125% >? your matk now?

If you solve it you get: your matk now >? 150. So using an elemental wand gets you more dmg if you have more than 150 matk and I guess you have more than that.. xD

That is for the element of your weapon, for the other element, it's your matk now >? 330. =)

The weapons don't increase magic by 25%, they increase damage by 25%. There's a difference.

But a good enough approximation. The real solution would be like +5 int or whatever... Tongue1

its a good enough approximation as long as the quadratic term of the spell damage formula is about negligible.

the lower your magic attack, the less 25% of it is. the higher it is, the more adding 30 matters. im not sure what your post really means.

Elemental Wand/staff - WillDaSnail - 2009-06-18

The loss that you stated is pretty much negligible - the % boost you gain for your elemental attacks pretty much overshadows that 378612876253 times over.

I'd start off with Staff 3 and 4 (Ice and Lightning Staff, respectively). For the bigger game - Wand 7 and 8 (Ice and Lightning Wand, respectively), they're upwards of a billion mesos each, give or take a few hundred mill. Unless you have the $, I'd start off with the Staff first so you can get to see what Elemental weapons is all about.

(If necessary, start off with the cheapest - I started my Elemental weapon collection by obtaining my Staff 2 [Poison] for 70m, then when I got the $, I got my Staff 1 [Fire] for 250m. In your case, that'll be the Lightning Staff)

P.S. If you really want to see the real comparison, I can do one in a 20-minute span using a Codar and my two elemental weapons I possess, on respective elemetnal-weak monsters and screenshot the results.

i am pretty sure that when deciding which equips to spend money on, a lv 70 elemental wand is worth more then anything else you can possibly spend money on. except maybe a maple warrior skillbook. at high levels a few more INT really isnt going to help except in the most borderline sitations like when you are on the verge of #HKOing and it happens only some of the time. so if youre really poor get the crappiest, most horrible possibly badly scrolled lightning or poison elemental wand and get more benefit then you would from getting the best dimon wand in the game.

on my fire mage with a fire wand i tested my damage difference with different magic attack pots. 10 magic attack translated into about 100 damage difference with fire arrow. all the magic damage formulas ive seen dont calculate my actual damage very well even accounting for the fire wand. is there an accurate one out there anywhere?

my fire mage has a lv 70 fire wand, lv 19 maple warrior, and HP equips, and does just about the same damage as any other fire mage out there ive seen at the same level and lukless. i even screwed up early on and now have 15 luk, and its not worth it to me IMO to reset the stats. because the benefit is just so small.
