World of Warcraft players, come in! - Corn - 2011-11-28 So I just stumbled into this thread... Dusk Wrote:but is that it? I mean, I'm fine with WoW's combat style. I'm just not interested in daily grinds and running dungeons for Valor. Oh god you're going to love Guild Wars 2. INSTANCED QUESTS. What does this mean? You're in a bar. OH MY GOD A BAR FIGHT SUDDENLY BREAKS OUT AND YOU HAVE TO STOP IT...or leave. Whatever. This dude asks you if you can fight off an invading raid. Okay, fine, you grab some buddies to take them out but HOLY CRAP YOU CAN'T DEFEAT THEM. CRAP QUEST FAILED. Wait, the dude asks you to retake the area? OKAY WE CAN DO THIS. YEAH! World of Warcraft players, come in! - CrazyNomad - 2011-11-28 I fúcking love dailyblink lol ![]()
World of Warcraft players, come in! - DrRusty - 2011-11-28 oh god that lich king one was fking hilarious World of Warcraft players, come in! - Dusk - 2011-11-28 Corn Wrote:So I just stumbled into this thread... What? WoW has instanced quests. World of Warcraft players, come in! - DrRusty - 2011-11-28 He didn't explain it well. It's not a quest for a dungeon, it's that quests come to you. You can be just walking around and you'll get a pop up that says "event nearby" and see some pirates attacking a village in the distance. You can choose to save them (get lootz n stuff) or ignore it and they get taken over. World of Warcraft players, come in! - Corn - 2011-11-28 I think "instanced" is the wrong word. My bad. I'll just copy and paste from wikipedia then. Event system Guild Wars 2 will use a very different system for quests than Guild Wars 1. Instead of the standard green exclamation point above an NPC's head to mark a possible quest, Guild Wars 2 will use a new Event system. In this system, events will happen with or without the presence of the player, and if a player happens to be present at the time of the event, then the player can complete the event by participating in it, and the outcome of the event may affect if, or what kind of, an event may happen soon thereafter. Three examples were provided to illustrate how this system may work. The first example shows the arrival of a dragon near a particular town or village. The players nearby that town or village can choose to fight the dragon. If they are successful, the dragon may flee or die, and the players involved are rewarded by the village elder; if the players fail, the dragon destroys a bridge vital to the village. At that time, the village people attempt to build a new bridge, and the players may help them by fending off a group of bandits that see the opportunity to attack. In the second example, if a player happens to be inside a garrison when a scouting party returns, they may overhear the scouts warning of an approaching column of centaurs, intent on destroying the garrison. The players can then participate in defending the garrison from the attacking centaurs. If the players are successful, the garrison may ask them to participate in a counterattack. If they are not successful, or if they weren't at the garrison in time to save the garrison, they may join other soldiers from a nearby town attempting to recapture the garrison. The third example involves a player walking along a familiar road, but this time they happen upon a caravan traveling along the road. They can choose to travel with the caravan, and defend it from roving bandits, or not. These events may overlap. For example, you are asked to escort the caravan to the garrison. But when you arrive at the garrison you find out it is being attacked by the centaurs. The two events may have nothing to do with each other, but in order to receive the rewards for escorting the caravan, you would have to fend off the centaurs from the garrison, resulting in you doing two events at once. Oh, by the way, I tried running the first Sith instance in SWTOR, and it was actually pretty awesome. It wasn't like WoW instances where you just fight waves of trash, maybe activate a switch, and then fight a boss. The entire thing was story-driven and you voted on story options (decided with a dice roll). It was actually like playing an RPG with a group. I don't think the instances would have much more replay value than a WoW instance, but that's probably fine since they're mostly there for leveling up, anyway. I don't know what im doing, I don't need any gear from the new dungeons, and from the LFR, I only need/want the tank weapon from Deathwing :|. Might as well get my VP cap for the relic and cape, since, for tanking, there is no cape above ilvl 378 that you buy from the NPC. World of Warcraft players, come in! - Dark Link - 2011-11-29 Wow, why couldn't the Physical DPS Axe have a unique proc? It's so unoriginal. Herp Derp blast an enemy with Fire, Shadow, or Frost. Quote:Equip: Your melee attacks have a chance to blast your enemy with Fire, Shadow, or Frost, dealing 7654 to 11481 damage. I guess it doesn't really matter for Rogues due to the Stage 1 daggers. World of Warcraft players, come in! - Dark Link - 2011-11-29 lol, it's for the total braindead people. Not surprised. All I'm using Void Storage for is to deposit my old tier gear / transmog gear and nothing more. World of Warcraft players, come in! - Birdie - 2011-11-29 really liking the patch so far. Got all three heroics done and the first 4 bosses in dragon soul through LFR. Tank loot so easy to get since you are rolling vs one other person at most. Got some nice shoulders off the first boss and a trinket with static stam and a mastery proc from the 2nd or 3rd, cant remember. Lots of people in trade complaining about LFR being too easy or how many bad players there are, but I love it. Even though the fights aren't exactly the same, its a great way to learn the fights rather than just watching videos. Really quick to mass up about half a week's valor points too. I haven't messed around with the transmog yet, waiting for the new pvp set .
World of Warcraft players, come in! - CrazyNomad - 2011-11-29 the new dungeons are REALLY easy, and way better than zalandari, they have like no trash, easy bosses, small dungeons and you can use mount to move, good RP on them. The LFR is a joke, its like pugging a 25man heroic ICC, just tank and spank lol. looking foward to run it friday on normal mode. World of Warcraft players, come in! - Sinnuendo - 2011-11-29 End Time is fun. I haven't done the other two because LFR broke on my server :v World of Warcraft players, come in! - IllegallySane - 2011-11-29 Hit 70 before I even got my achievement for Terrorkar Forest; hell, I was about 70% to 71 before I stopped pugging to finish up some 5-man releated quests. You guys just have it TOO EASY. Anyways, cleared up my Outlands quest log of everything else, hopped on the ship to Northrend. Patch came, am now 71. Gonna be amused how Northrend will be, seeing all the 5-man quest NPCs are now in the dungeons as well and that I quit last time after only clearing 2 zones so I never got a chance to see all the damage Arthas caused. Also, DUAL WIELDING TWO GIANT HONKING SWORDS SURE IS FUN. Loving Titan's Grip. World of Warcraft players, come in! - Dark Link - 2011-11-30 No daggers for me this week. The other 2 rogues in the raid got their ring and tried convincing the raid to quick wipe / afk 15min for my ring, but no avail
