"Getting snipped" The best birth control ever - Flonne - 2012-03-29 Link Wrote:The d'ick snip.yes, and that's a terrible name. Having the word "snip" in the same paragraph as penis is one of the most profoundly uncomfortable things possible, for me. I'd rather we talk about sticking a needle into it, than that. Although, needles have never bothered me. The best birth control ever - SaptaZapta - 2012-03-30 This one should probably get called something along the lines of "plugged" or "corked" (even though the polymer doesn't technically plug anything). The best birth control ever - Luxeraph - 2012-03-30 Why not just the needle as someone was calling it earlier on the thread? A quick search shows that dimethyl sulfoxide is mildly toxic, and styrene is potentially carcinogenic. Just wanted to say that while styrene and dimethyl sulfoxide are toxic, polymers made from them are a completely different chemical substance (and polymers are generally harmless and inert). I'll see what I can come up as info on the polymers. EDIT: Poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) on SigmaAldrich, found its MSDS and it doesn't seem to be a particularly toxic polymer. I'd have to search for articles on its application to have a definite answer but with the amount that's injected I doubt it would be much of a problem. http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/product/aldrich/426946?lang=de®ion=DE The best birth control ever - Corn - 2012-03-30 Baklava Wrote:Putting two suspicious sounding chemicals in a part of my body for a prolonged amount of time (10 years wut) doesn't sound like something I want to be doing. If that splinter caused babies and HIV that is. Circumcision sounds disgusting as well. Thankfully they don't do it over here. The process is a little messy but when you're a baby you won't remember the pain and if you're older they put you under anyway. I'm circumcised and i never really hurt during puberty and stuff. Can't really say much about health benefits since i'm not conscious about it, but it's not really a terrible procedure/result either way. |
