street Wrote:you dont have to use the facebook method. Some people actually trust facebook(yes shocker). Facebook has become a part of people now. They check it 24/7 and stay on it even thou they have nothing to do. Its just like maple. Boring but we are always on it

Security questions are more personal information. What part of WE SHOULDN'T BE USING PERSONAL INFORMATION TO PROTECT OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION is it that you don't get? Also I don't use facebook and it's not as trustworthy as people seem to think. Even then, the more of yourself you link to any one thing the greater you expose yourself to all things.

ok sarah. ok. Let me hear your method of security we should be using? i see someone talking about authentication ?

To tell you the truth when i do security questions it is not actual personal infromation. What is your favorite color? i google the most complex color and use it. Favorite dog name? Rexmaxtrainerheartstomp.

Worst case scenario when your authenticator gets bypassed is that you lose your [maple] account. If something happens with your facebook, email, etc accounts all attached to your maple account then you are completely screwed. I'd take a glitchy authenticator over that any day.

Smart people don't answer security questions with actual personal information. Smart people make security questions an additional layer of passwords and keep those answers backed up somewhere.

Whenever I log into my gmail, I receive a text message on my phone for a 6 character code to input to log in. I think it's a good system for those who have a cellphone w/ texting (literally almost 80%+ of maple...)

i don't have a cellphone, and where i have one, is not the U.S. :S

This. I've never bothered answering those security questions properly, if they're compromised I don't want to risk losing even more personal info. I tend to just make up another complex password and put that down.

I'm glad we're FINALLY able to change the email address and other account information though, it's about time.

Sure, but if you say to do that in the first place then there's no excuse for anyone else. You tell the average joe to enter X information and that's exactly what they'll do. There are far more average people on the internet than smart people and just because they're not on their toes all of the time doesn't mean they shouldn't have a fair chance at being protected. All systems like the one Nexon (and Facebook) do is set people up for future exploitation.

Even that system Locked suggested SOUNDS good but if you think about it for a second you realise you have to provide your cell phone number. That information can be used to find out literally everything about you (thanks google.) Is your Maple account really worth your identity?

Nexon, and all companies, really, need to create systems that don't require us to use sensitive information to protect ourselves. Giving us deeper password protection, authenticators and really anything that we can use as an unrelated peripheral is what is necessary and will gradually become more so as the internet ridiculousness continues.

The best way to prevent exposing your personal information is to obviously, not give away your information. lololol.
I don't see the point in arguing over this.
