The BIBLE. - GameMX - 2009-02-05 I think we should rid of all religion. Seriously, people can't take The "Holy" Bible as what it was ment. A book of stories with morals to guide you in life. Instead, we must follow every word! Why was the very original Holy Bible, 99 books, when today's is only 66. I guess one of the things is, the majority of people can't think for themselves. If a priest were to preach saying something as the Holy Bible says donate 30% of your income, I'm quite sure the majority would believe it. It's like brainwashing! No wonder the middle east has problems! Go Religion!

I can tell you for sure that ALL of the stuff you're saying here is atheist copypasta. Everybody says "be different" so people like you go along and shout "I am different" and it's just another fashionable herd mentality. Have you read the Bible? why do you assume what you think it is? It pretty much a very complex book. if you talk about what it means for humanity, its a Book for guidance to the worship/praise of God. if you have issues with this statement please make another thread on it. the very original bible was 5 books long and written thousands of years before the last book was added. you say people blindly follow, but you probably meant to say christians follow blindly. do not think yourself higher than your own statement. you seem very adverse to christianity to the point of it being personal. were you personally or a close one affected by christianity? The BIBLE. - Almo - 2009-02-07 I personally think the Bible is good, just religious people take the meanings in it too seriously. In my opinion the Bible is just a very dramatic book with great meanings into it - but people have manipulated it to their benefit. The BIBLE. - Rain - 2009-02-07 Me follow a mound of paper bound together written a millennium ago? Ahahaha no thanks. No I'm not atheist. I have my own views. Almo Wrote:I personally think the Bible is good, just religious people take the meanings in it too seriously. Whatever happen to honesty aye? Quite sure, one of the things The Holy Bible used to mention was that Jesus said himself, that you don't need to go to Church in order to believe. That would obviously be ripped out, for wealth and power. One of the pomegranate of religions though I find, with religious extremist, is the Mayan Calendar crap and the Nostradamus predictions. It's even more ridiculous when people try to combine them. Didn't people say the world would end at the first second of the year 2000? I wonder what people thought of 1000 and 666. It's funny how people think that a digit in a Base10 math system will be the end of the world... now I wonder what people would do if we actually went off the Base16 Math as a standard. People indulge in this so much, it becomes a self-prophecy, that they have created in there head, that this in what they believe is the prophecy. Some take it too far and act it out. The Holy Bible was nothing but a guidance in life, which drops back on the acronym of it. Sad though, that some people take it too far, as if it was the meaning of everything. You don't need to be apart of an organization in order to believe. I wish it was more this way, sadly. Too much to ask for though. It's like some of the things my friend told me... which is most likely obviously ripped off. "I don't hate God, just his fan club." I believe in Jesus as a powerful spiritual leader who understood the actual meaning of the term called 'Love'. Not as a prophet who told me to join one religion (which is why I believe in what I choose to believe in, not what everyone says is right.) I act on my own will, not everyone elses. "I don't hate God, just his fan club." was probably originally from gandhi "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Christians throughout history have been some of the most grandiose failures (even recorded in the Bible) but its always because of human stupidity. Human stupidity knows no boundary of age, sex, race, upbringing; so please do not credit this only to christians. if you are to judge a religion i recommend going to their source and see what they say about themselves. Christianity holds up pretty well compared to everything else. The BIBLE. - Derimed - 2009-02-09 heronz Wrote:You either have to call him lunatic or savior. Gandhi makes sense in a very narrow context. Outside of it, he is a drooling retard. If the tyrant he is peacefully protesting is a 1st world democracy, Gandhi works because he can appeal to the democratic consciousness. Put Gandhi in most of the world's tyranies, which you would suppose are the places where he is needed, and he will be dragged to the streetcorner, shot in the head, and his followers will follow suit. Gandhi told the whole world to surrender to Adolf Hitler and then peacefully protest the Third Reich. I am not lying, go look at the history books, this was Gandhi's stance during World War 2. I think the only problem with that is the Nazis would have run out of Zyklon B in the gas chambers. Put Gandhi in Soviet Russia, (Stalin,) Khmer Rouge Cambodia, (Pol Pot,) or Uganda (Idi Amin,) and Gandhi and all his people would have been SHOT IN THE FACE. Was he useful? Yes. But only useful in a place like America or England. Sometimes, my friends, you gotta pick up the M-16s and speak to tyranny in the only language it REALLY understands. Gandhi survived to tell his story because of those Christians he doesn't like so much. The BIBLE. - TheSmartGuy - 2009-02-17 Anzamyu Wrote:Mapley Yeahhhh!

As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you.(Deuteronomy 20:10-14) Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT) Death to Followers of Other Religions Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB) Kill Nonbelievers They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB) Kill Women Who Are Not Virgins On Their Wedding Night But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB) More Rape and Baby Killing Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children. (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT) if this god is "perfect" perfection scares the crap out of me. Some people don't believe in God, they are a lot less flexible than me. God has nothing to do with that. It's not that a person is an atheist or a religious person, it's how they choose to interpret whatever doctrine guides their life. Being an atheist or religious by itself does not say anything as to how open-minded or closed-minded you are. It's like liberals who claim they're "open-minded" and "accepting," but disagree with them about anything, (such as the death penalty, abortion, or environmentalism,) and you'll rapidly find they're not nearly as open-minded as they claim to be. I am pretty much a conservative, but I've learned that me thinking a certain way on the death penalty won't do jack $hit about actual policy, so no need to get in people's faces about it. Try reading the great works of antiquity, be it the original story of Arthur and his knights, or Greek mythology, or whatever, and what you've put down here will seem like a cuddly puppy in comparison. At least the Old Testament contains stuff like the Ten Commandments. In ancient Greece, you may murder somebody if they were a bad guest at dinner. You have to interpret stuff in the context of the times from which it sprang. The Old Testament was a revolution in moral thinking becasue, (and you may laugh if you want,) because what came before it was barbaric in comparison. For example, the whole "love your children and cuddle them, etc." thing started in the early 20th century. Before then, your kids could die (and often did die,) very early in childhood, so parents could not get attached to their children. In the middle ages, people put "swaddling clothes" on their children, which was something that completely prevented the child from moving. It was reasoned this would make the parents' lives easier becuase they wouldn't have to run after the kid. On this site children regularly whine about how their Mommy didn't buy them Pokemon cards. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." isa 40:31 "So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." mt 6:32-34 |
