[Server Maintenance] MapleStory 8/26 - Falkentyne - 2008-08-27

I/L Mages can train on them. They can't kill them as fast as a Bishop or a F/P, but you DO know, there is a reason that Big Bang level 30 exists, which rips through mobs, if you're skilled with timing its release. Combine that with ice demon and Ifrit and Chain Lightning, then you have a very trainable map still. You just use blizzard to lure group the mobs. And to be frank with you, it's a -LOT- more fun using combined arms to kill monsters, than to press 1 button for the rest of your maple life (Genesis, though to be fair, Meteo too). And having to deal with getting KB'd while being mobbed keeps you on your toes. I actually feel sorry for Bishops on this map.....YAWN boring...mash 1 button forever.mash mash mash....no wonder people get bored of this game.

and no: the exp is NOT really better than newties here, at least if you're soloing. Big flying maps (Gryphons, Typhons) have a too erratic mob spawn/movement to be effective for consistent training. You may wind up having no spawn in 1 area of the map, and half the monsters stuck on the very bottom, out of reach (unless you pot drop yourself down there to the bottom), or have to move around to reach another big spawn until you exit and re-enter the map. It's fun and good money for drops though.

Many IL mages choose not to max BigBang until their 16xs. I know of very few people who max BigBang before that. I am indeed aware of BigBang's power, however, BigBang's power only matches the power of your ulti, and it only hits six. Obviously, hitting six for 3200 is nothing close to hitting eight for 3800 each. So if you're training with BigBang at Typhons, you're obviously not going to get as good of EXP rate as if you were training at Newties. The exp is only better if you can consistently get ten in a mob (which is only accomplishable by using an ulti). So I'm sorry to say that IL Mages are screwed at Typhons unless they party.

For the 'erratic spawn', I've found ways to lure, and it usually works. I can usually get ten in a mob, and sometimes, I even get fifteen. If you know the map, just climb up the rope from the 'usual stand spot', meteo, jump right, meteo, then tele back into the 'usual stand spot'. If you hug the typhons, you won't get blown off the map. The typhons will decrease in spawn, usually, when the spawn lowers to seven a mob, you go up and lure again.

If you do get blown off the map, just tap a random pot (2 per second), and then you'll hit the bottom without being sent to the JQ. From there, just cc and cc back.

I have experimented with both (Lv 1 meteo) Newties and Typhons, and I found Typhons to be better exp. Not only that, they're actually worth training on because I can actually collect their mesos drop, unlike Newties, which if you try to collect the mesos drop, you'll end up wasting numerous pots. :f6:
