Are my thoughts about this school year acceptable or disrespectful/ inhumane? - DeanNim - 2010-06-06 Dusk Wrote:All grade school (K-12) is terrible and pointless. You'll get through it. Wish i could say that. But i regret for not properly studying in primary six (12 yr old). Now im in secondary 3 (15 yr old), i know nothing for maths [we start learning algebra at 12/11]. I dont know how the school system works there but in singapore theres only Kindergarten(3yrs) , Primary school(6yrs), Secondary school(4/5yrs), ITE/Polytechnic or JC(tertiary) Are my thoughts about this school year acceptable or disrespectful/ inhumane? - Swerve - 2010-06-06 The opening post is a very good litmus test for reading comprehension. I didn't actually read it at all. My hobby: surmising the general topic of the thread by skimming posts instead of reading anything. DeanNim Wrote:Wish i could say that. I don't feel like I gained anything particularly useful from the education system, nor did my grades matter at all. School's a good place to put kids to keep them off the streets, but it's not good for much other than that. Yes I don't really care anymore so to confirm most peoples thoughts I am a middle schooler. This whole year was probably the best social year of my life. I got a girlfriend, became really popular, and learned a little bit. Then again in my perspective you really don't learn anything new in middle school. Or at least not like how you learn important skills in high school or college. Honestly without trying to make my self seem like I think i'm the smartest person in the world i'd like to say that really the only thing i've ever learned from school is math. Everything else i've learned throughout experiencing life. I'm one of those kids who gets by in school with A's and B's without even trying. Its all common no-ledge in my opinion. Up until this afternoon I was loving it, It was a second life away from home. I think it's wrong that you just made a quantitative assessment of your "friends." I don't know how well you got along with 240+ kids. It honestly sounds like a situation from a harem videogame or Pokemon friend quest. Perhaps Facebook has finally developed a game where you battle your facebook "friends" against other facebook "friends." I'm curious how many of them you can name off the top of your head. Then again, since when do you have to know the name of your "friends?" Having only 50 friends in middle school must be tough. That's not nearly enough to enjoy going to see a movie or going out to play a game of basketball. Maybe the reason why you don't care about them leaving is because they were never really your friends in the first place. You state that you wished you focused on academics, but you already have good grades. Apparently you're both smart and popular. It sure must be tough to be you. I imagine that your "friends" graduating will definitely result in having your popularity taking a little dive. It's such a horrible, horrible tragedy. I don't understand how you suddenly lose track of your "friends" to the point that you discover a butt-load of them are graduating. I mean, you stated that you were going to a different school. Did you not think that they would end up attending different schools themselves? |
