Well, to any other I/L who may be interested, I decided Sekushi's "mesars plz" build (i.e., the first one) was the way to go for me, so I put 1 in Blizzard and then got 9 MW. At 123, I tested with my level 1 Blizzard on newties to see how many hits it typically took, then went up to 2, then level 3. At level 3 Blizzard, I can 3-hit newties sometimes, which is better than I was doing with 1 or 2. At 124, I put 3 into Chain Lightning and plan to get it to level 15; at this point it will have a higher base attack than Composition and hit up to 4 mobs, making it quite useful. After that, I'll probably get some Ice Demon. The magical line between 3-hit newties and 2-hit newties is still rather far off either way, so I don't think adding into Blizzard does much good, as it won't increase my training speed. I might as well get other skills instead.
Of course, before very long we will have the Time(less?) Temple. The only effect I know this will have is that Blizzard 20 will be available from something besides Zakum, so one might actually be able to find it in the Free Market or hunt for it. I've got no clue whether mobs there will be good for training at my level.

I would say at least get your blizzard to the point you can 1hit both red and blue harps(around 830 m.atk to do it without an ice Ewand with lv15 blizzard for a lukless mage. Only lv6 blizzard is required if you have an Ewand). And then life will be much much easier. Exp is definitely better than CL or other craps, and pot cost can be covered by selling leech easily.

Heh, if I could afford an ice wand, life would already be much easier!
However, my base LUK is 73, giving me 101 LUK with current gear, so when I get a Mark of Naricain I would be able to hold a Staff 3 or 4, so it's remotely possible that one day I may have either of those. Of course I haven't even priced these things, but since the "pros" go LUKless maybe the LUK ones are cheaper, and with CWKPQ dropping (some) elemental weapons maybe I have a chance.
I do not believe in selling leech, but so far my potion cost even when training with Blizzard is not exceeding my income. Getting to the point where I can get 2 Blizzards on one potion without HB (and without risk of dying) will, of course, make the costs even less. Considering that 3-hitting is 3-hitting whether it's just barely killing them on the third hit or they only have 5% life left after the second hit, I don't see my speed on jr newties increasing any time soon, so might as well add some "crap" skills that are used for something other than newties.

Agree with the first part.
However I would point out that if you one-hit harps, you can more than cover pot cost if you take the time to pick up the drops every 3 minutes, you do not need to sell leech to fund pots. Same goes for red wyverns.
Also I have not seen much call for leech from mages, at least on Khaini. Only if they are really desperate, like 4x ticking away and no bishop in sight. Then if you do give leech you probably wouldn't pick up the drops, and with only getting half the mesos that a bishop can demand per hour, and double the pot cost of a bishop, and of course losing 1/3 of your exp/hour to the leecher, its hardly worthwhile anyway.

Well here in windia, I have no problem selling leech for just 1mil under what a bish charge with same HKO. In fact, I'm getting a lot of business since bish doesn't deal high enough damage to mobs other than holy weak, and the ones who do, are not enough for the entire leeching demand, so I actually have buyers all the time demanding 1HKO harp, 1HKO wyvern, and 2HKO newt.
