Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - IllegallySane - 2009-05-13 I roughly found this out after getting level 21 Dragon Strike and after the patch lowered it's cooldown. Wanting to emulate the Viper in the KMST video, I pretty much discovered a bucket of awesome. Essentially, the idea of "Dragon Dancing" is to minimize damage taken while dealing as much damage as possible to mobs. It's rather simple thanks to the KMST changes: 1. CSB into the mob 2. Dragon Strike 3. While still invincible, tap CSB 4. Due to the way Dragon Strike works it also hits enemies a reasonable distance from behind your character. 5. Here, as soon as possible, tap Backspin Blow. If done fast enough, the mobs behind you will remain in the same spot while you move back 6. Dragon Strike for even moar damage since you also got 3 stunned mobs 7. Repeat 1-6 until mobs are dead from your awesomeness. Essentially, this technique cut down my pot consumption by roughly 1/2 from ~400-500+/hour to only ~150-200+/hour at Skeles; even more, this makes repotting much less of a pain since I'm not repotting after every 4 hours. Dragon Dancing works beautifully for me because it only leaves me open to hits roughly 20% (and add in ~20-25% avoidance) of the time while remaining untouchable the other 80%. Also, it's quite devastating dealing 810% to 6 enemies, which makes for sexy time. ![]() Slight adjustments can be made with CSB, where if you don't like where the mobs are positioned, you can wait about a split second after CSB connects to be able to push them back more while still remaining unhittable. Thoughts about this, or does someone else have a better way to kill fast while mitigating pot burn? Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - Mark - 2009-05-13 Maybe I'm retarded, but I take damage way too often while doing this. Then again I don't really care about pot consumption and would rather spam Blast on a mob if I have energy charged. (Which is quite often.) But CSB -> Barrage -> CSB is useful on stationary bosses. 100% Godmode. Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - Temporality - 2009-05-13 I've noticed it was possible, haven't quite gotten it down yet o-o. Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - Takebacker - 2009-05-13 I have a feeling it takes a massive amount of control to pull it off, and you're still getting hit too. You only risk a hit when you do Backspin Blow. I counted, roughly 1 second per attack. CSB, DS, CSB, DS, BSB, DS, repeat. The bolded part is the only part where you should be taking damage. *Correction, 6 seconds. Thought it was 5 seconds. In response to Opeth: I still use Energy Blast when it's up, but only when there's like 5-6 mobs stacked in one pile or two-three weakened mobs to finish off. *And yes I agree. CSB + Barrage = Godmode at bosses, which is very lovely to have. **It may possibly be a latency/internet issue for you. If you lag too much, it's not doable. Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - DrRusty - 2009-05-13 Easy for me. I used to do it before, but I replaced the second dragon strike with a blast. Same thing except now I used dragon strike twice. Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - IllegallySane - 2009-05-13 DrRusty Wrote:Easy for me. This is exactly how I train at the moment. It shouldn't be any in technique, just the skill will be different and the damage will be higher. Meh........ I REALLY hope we get the skill updates next patch (two wednesdays from now )
Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - Xephia - 2009-05-13 I guess I'm similar to Opeth. I'm 15X and I still haven't found a way to Dragon Strike train with a 100% succession; I still get hit. I do CSB, DS, CSB, DS, and only "sometimes" do I not get hit. I mash on the CSB as DS is taking place, and I'm sure to use DS just as CSB is finished, but to no avail. I still use it for training as I can buy pots, but hopefully by the time TT comes out I can get the hang of it. I have mastered CSB and Barrage, though. Sometimes I'm hesitant to use it at bosses thinking some new GM is going to ban me thinking I'm using godmode. Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - Worthyness - 2009-05-13 I'm still relatively new to this technique, so I'm planning on using it. I tried it at bottom Newties before and it worked magically. I still get hit while doing a dragon strike tho =/ I can do a near perfect barrage-->> Dragon strike tho. or barrage -->> anything really. Still haven't got the hang of this =x Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - Loose - 2009-05-14 I just Energy Orb the crap outta everything. : | But yeah, I tend to get hit often when I Dragon Strike to Screw. But then again, I'm new to this Buccaneer thing. Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - IllegallySane - 2009-05-14 Shinryuji Wrote:this is it right? lol YES. That's the video I was thinking of, except I took less hits than him at Skeles; looked like lag for him. Again, When I only burned ~60-90 Honsters in half an hours worth of training using this style, that says something. I'm managed to replicate ~85% of his training style. It's a lot more fun than I thought it'd be. Opeth Wrote:Yeah, see? The method isn't perfect. He still took damage and scored some misses occasionally. It's not meant to be a 100% miss style/perfect method. It's meant to greatly mitigate (lessen) pot burn while using Dragon Strike to it's fullest effect. I even admitted in my original post I still got hit ~20% of the time while training because a Dragon Strike after a Backspin Blow leaves me wide open on purpose for the sake of more damage. Look closely at his pot count in the video. Started with 728(9?) Reindeer Milks. He ended the video after ~4 minutes with 725 Milks (rounding down the minutes). So in 4 minutes he only used 3/4 x 15 = 45-60 Reindeer Milks an hour. That's roughly 45-75 Honsters an hour (depending on how much HP the Buccaneer has), while still raping the monster pretty badly. Dohohohohoh. *A relook at the video I saw that those times he got hit in the middle of the mobs, he was standing still a bit too long after Dragon Strike when he could have followed up a CSB or BSB or he didn't DS soon enough after his CSBs. It does not disprove the style ability to really reduce damage using Dragon Strike. He was simply not responsive 100% of the time, BUT he took way less hits than what might be normally expected of Dragon Strike training. Heck, even I can't expect to exert perfect control while Dragon Dancing 100% of the time, but I come damn close to 100% when I'm focused. **I recall tales from leeched Buccaneers on lolSleepy who thought that spending 300 Honsters/hour at NEWTIES using muthafreaking BARRAGE was considered cheap training, and also the very fact I used to burn 500-600+ Honsters at Skeles. Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - xgngx - 2009-05-14 Hope this helps: Technique for dancing: CSB>DS. While during DS animation, hold down CSB button. Once DS strike the damages (the moment you see damage appears), or when you see your CSB charge bar appears, release CSB button immediately, you will CSB successfully without getting hit. Once CSB animation appears, hold down DS button, and repeat all over again. If after DS you wanna BSB, during DS animation, hold down BSB button. If your DS hit the mobs behind you, you will execute BSB while the mobs stay at their postition. Afer BSB however, you might get hit due to the invincible period from CSB already expired. The trick is, hold down the next attack button during an animation, instead of tapping the buttons. This is what i do, 100% effective, although you might miss due to some network latency. ![]() Practice makes perfect. Ganbatte everyone!

Any high level Buccaneers here got accustomed to "Dragon Dancing"? - Takebacker - 2009-05-14 Loose Wrote:Screw to Barrage to Screw... I wouldn't say the bossing one is 100% though, since status effects still go through, including seduce, which will kill you if you pineapple around with it. :/ Training, not so much, which is why the high HP with high level mobs is convenient since it means you eventually have to use backspin and become vulnerable. There's also not a lot of mobs that use status effects at high levels. This is assuming 100% control too, and even a perfect bucc will screw up eventually. |
